I listened to the audiobook which is read by the author herself. You can hear the emotion and passion on the topic in her voice.

It was an incredibly graphic and horrific book to listen to but I could not stop listening. Jess manages to make a topic that is horrendous into a book you can’t put down. Her research skills are next level and the way she tells people’s stories with respect and dignity is commendable.

I spent almost the entire time shaking my head and cringing in shame that we live in a world this horrific and that I didn’t have a clue about the extent of domestic abuse even slightly. It was eye opening and a very interesting listen. I have learnt a lot.

Engaging writing, stacked with an amazing amount of credible evidence backing just about every word. Everyone should read this, it's as simple as that.

An incredible read, with powerful insights into domestic abuse, the justice system, family violence and patriarchal entitlement. Well researched, comprehensive, challenging and hopeful, this book is a must read for all.

One of the best I've read but I wish books like this would use fewer and less graphic descriptions of abuse. Why Does He Do That? gives the most accurate description of living day to day with an abuser that other books forget, including See What You Made Me Do. However, this book looks at solutions more holistically and longterm than anything else I've seen. She chose to focus on exceptions of policing, but left out the 40% figure known of officers despite so much of the book citing the US.

It feels wrong to rate this book because of the deeply personal and heartbreaking stories it contains. This book was devastating but told with sensitivity and hope. A must read for everyone.

Just intense. But so well written, insightful and informative. I did find it very challenging to read and had to take breaks to read some more light hearted material.

Uni Textbook level of information about domestic violence! Highly recommend. The author used a lot of true stories to helps readers understand what does it like for people who live with domestic  violence
