This should really be 2.5, but I rounded down. I just couldn't see the point of this book. All of the characters were awful but I'm usually fine with that. But I kept thinking "was the author thinking I would like any of these people?" Because it kind of felt that way- it wasn't satire. And they were all awful and people I would steer clear of under all circumstances.

Overall I'd say 2.75 stars.
I can't say I fully enjoyed this book, but it was an easy listen. I found myself not being super invested in the characters until much later in the book, and then at the end almost wished there was a bit more detail in the characters and the conclusion of what occurred.

I am not sure if I would have liked this book, or even finished it, had it not been on audio. The plot was very slow that I would zone out a lot and the had to re-listen. Aaaaand, I missed nothing! It's more of a character study than a domestic/psychological suspense instead of the great balance that Little Big Lies (the novel, it is slated to be like). I would put this novel in line with Mrs. Dalloway - you will either really like it or hate it (and I liked Mrs. Dalloway).

***I received an eARC from EDELWEISS***

Still trying to figure out how I feel about this one. I know I liked it, but I can’t put my finger on why. There were several times where I had to go back and look up a character to remember who they were (there are a lot, I mean, a lot of characters) and there were times when I wondered if I had missed something, because the characters seemed to understand something I didn’t. But, I really enjoyed the writing and felt close to the main characters, especially Philippa and Gwen. While I couldn’t relate to these women’s lives, the author made me feel as if I could relate to the women themselves.

Too many characters that seemed to be just thrown in as if you should know who they are already. Rather difficult to follow.

Okay, I want to read this again. About halfway through I started thinking there were too many story lines going on but now that I have finished it I see that that was ultimately really well done. This is a Rich People In Manhattan book, but more nuanced and complex than most.

Mostly unlikeable characters in sad stories that seem to be without a beginning or an end. Reinforces the pointlessness of many lives. Multiple changes of perspective bring some interest. Read for a book club.

Told from so many perspectives and timelines that it was a little like a whirlwind.
