After trying to read five books with no success, this book got me out of a funk. I loved it from page one. I'm a big fan of books that can make me laugh, and the banter in this book had me going. The relationship between the sisters felt so honest, and their issues relatable. Charlie might be too good to feel real but I'm not complaining.
Henry's use of imagery and metaphor was fantastic, like little surprises peppered through the work. It kept me enthralled and I refused to skip a single word.

Ugh. This book has such high ratings; I had high expectations. It just didn’t meet them. The first half was very interesting and I flew through it. But the second half was a slog-fest and I was so bored by the characters, setting, situation, I almost couldn’t finish it. I had lots of eye rolls and long sighs and I got through a very predictable ending… But. Lots of people loved it so… maybe just not the right timing for me.

Wow.
This is the second Emily Henry book I've read, it was suggested to me after I read and adored Beach Read. I was nervous that it wouldn't live up to how much I liked Beach Read but it absolutely knocked it out of the park. If Beach Read was a 5, then this was a 6. I am blown away.

I loved the town of Sunshine Falls, and the dynamics of the relationships between everyone in town. I found myself falling in love with Sunshine Falls and Charlie alongside Nora, and so many times saw myself reacting to things the same way she does in the story. Her mindset is very similar to my own and I feel like she has become one of the most relatable characters I've ever read.

Shockingly I didn't manage to predict every plot twist, and was taken aback by a few of them whilst reading. Though the ending was pretty predictable and I'd been waiting for that pin to drop whilst reading the last few chapters.

I really love Emily Henry's writing and she's now a must-read author for me. If only Happy Place would be available as a paperback sooner so I can have it in my collection and the same size as the others.

My sister told me it gave her Gilmore Girls vibes, and I totally see it and I think they are almost spot on for an older Rory and Jess (though Nora is much more likable than Rory).
Charlie/Jess - comes off broody, loves books, black sheep in a small town, complicated relationship with father figure.
Nora/Rory - loves books, dates horrible men (exception Jess/Charlie), anxious, overthinker.

Hello, we meet again.
I have been putting this review off so I thought why not get it out? Firstly this is not an attack on Emily Henry, I sincerely think she is a wonderful aspiring author and writer.

The characters: I found most, if not all, characters in this book dull, boring, and underdeveloped to be completely honest. The sister, Libby, yeah no. She was barely there as an actual character, and quite frankly I'm not digging the whole 'Nora will completely be crazy and go to extreme levels of craziness to ensure Libby's annoying happiness' and not to mention, Nora babied Libby so much and all the time it felt like Libby still hadn't grown up even though she had almost three kids.

Don't even get me started on the whole 'Charlie' thing. First off, I liked Charlie, he was sweet, sometimes funny, he had a lot of my favorite lines, and he was the perfect book boyfriend, he didn't get mad, he was mellow all the time, he was supposed to have a 'dark tragic back story but ended up just a big softie. That's EXACTLY what I have a problem with. His character just felt so easy. I shouldn't get recommendations from my friends anymore, because what I like in a book is raw, human emotions, I like to relate to the characters so much, that I absolutely feel as if that character is just me distilled into pages. None of this fluff. Emily Henry tried to make it seem like this book was 'oh so serious' but honestly, it just felt like she made a mediocre romance book and added stuff to make it more 'adult' Maybe I should loosen up, but this book didn't have any drama, it was just so breezy for their relationship and everything that supposedly went 'wrong' but was in fact not even that big of a deal, to begin with. Now, I'm not going for Emily Henry's writing style, but in general all romance books like this one, contemporary, new adult fiction, always end up being the same as every other book but watered down.

The last thing I'm saying, or else I'm gonna be here a lot longer, is I enjoyed the story somewhat, it had a few quotes or scenes I liked, and overall it kept me semi interested, but people can go without reading this book for sure. 2.5

Typical rom com plot but sometimes you just need that simplistic weekend read.

It was cute. I understand how some people would be annoyed with the characters, but that is sort of the point of the story. Two people whom most people would find wholly unlikeable in this enemies to soulmates troupe.

I didn’t hate it but I really didn’t love it :( I try so hard to like Emily Henry but I just can’t get there. I will say that this is my favorite I’ve read from her, I did love the comedic sense to the book. And I really did feel for Nora, I was just missing the connection to any of the characters that I would normally look for. 3.5/5

Another amazing book by Henry. I absolutely loved the little sweet twist and the way Nora's story unfolded. The ending left me with tears in my eyes. such a great read.
