The storyline of the movie is quite different than the book, and I prefer the way to book ends.

That said, I found the way the story bounced in time during the war to be confusing, and would have much preferred it to be linear.

I was pleased with how quickly it felt the story got going, then it lulled, then I was enthralled through to the end. Very short “chapter” breaks let us switch between two main and a few other characters’ perspectives. Time jumps can be tricky to keep straight but this is all done effectively: keeping the story interesting and avoiding giving too much away. The war is a backdrop as the setting and reason for the events unfolding as they do- I wouldn’t describe it as a WWII book. Instead, it is a historical fiction playing with the magic of radio communication. The the title of the is very fitting. A clever novel

i was gripped by this story nearly 40 pages in. the moving back and forth between story lines/perspectives is something i love. this has a LOT of that. still, it was easy to follow!

This book was beautifully written at times. The plot dragged and I’m not sure how it won a Pulitzer.
And by the end it has you sympathizing with a damn Nazi which had me feeling very uncomfortable.
Don’t read unless you like historical war fiction.

It's a very heart-warming story of paths that cross. I'm not too much of a fan of how
one of the main characters dies, as this usually happens in war-based stories
but I did enjoy the epilogues to see how the characters ended up. It was a bit too detailed as I found that I was dragging myself until 2/3 of the book. It felt a bit anticlimactic but it was still beautifully written.
