The first half of this book is largely research and info on how and why we humans get so sucked into our phones. The second half of the book is filled with 30 activities/tasks that are meant to be completed within about a month's time by a person who wants to change the relationship that they have with their phone. (Full disclosure: I quite enjoyed the content, and got a lot of it, but did not actually engage in the 30 days of tasks as prescribed. Instead, I did some of the tasks here and there that spoke to me.) I very much appreciated the author's well balanced perspective that phones/devices are not inherently bad, but that we want our time spent on phones to be intentional, and to enhance our lives, rather than take away from them.

Recommended for: A reader who wants to change the relationship they have with their phone, and/or change the dynamic of devices in their family life.

Really helped me start "breaking up" with my phone, but I'm moving on to the more in-depth book Digital Minimalism because I want to explore a slightly less "lite" approach.

enjoyable and straight-forward. a bit biased in some aspects, but a good first guide to anyone trying to reduce their social media / phone consumption.

Definitely a great one to listen to on audio while you’re driving. I did a dual read/listen and felt like I was absorbed more from it when I listened.

I didn’t follow the whole process outlined in this book but did find some useful nuggets and I’m implementing some changes. Biggest takeaway: “Your life is what you pay attention to.”

Definitely interesting and some tips I will be implementing in my daily life however I did feel that some of the suggestions are slightly outdated.
