I loved this book as a preteen. It's nice, too, how the author makes it so that Jen falls in love with Scott, rather than Luke. But it's also believable that Jen still is at least a wee bit enraptured by Luke, or at least how he looks. The pacing of the whole book is done nicely, and like I said, it's perfect for preteens. Nothing much more to say about it than that.

If I were rating it only for the target audience (preteens), I give it 5 stars. For anyone older, about 3 stars. So, that averages to 4.

(I’ve also read this before) Is it silly? Yes. That’s what I was looking for, and this was exactly the fluff I ordered.

Is there something wrong with me lately that I have no desire to finish books. I usually like Meg Cabot books but this one was ridiculous after from the start. It just didn't appeal to me at all.

Hilarious. Quick witted. Brilliant rhythm to the plot.

This book had a lot of potential... but it lacked execution, and plot. I was really excited to read this book when I read the premise, but it turned out to be different that I thought it would be. I think that if you're going to read this book, it's better to go in blind, than to read the blurb.

So Jen is the nice girl that everyone likes. She's also the agony aunt for her high school's paper. She gets a call to go to the principal's office, to find out that a Teenage Hollywood movie star is coming to their high school for two weeks, and it's Jen's job to be his guide, and keep his identity hidden.

Spoiler I really wanted Jen and Luke to get together. I thought that this book would have that sort of romance. A famous actor with a simple high school girl. But it wasn't, and I am kind of mad.

I think that the plot of this book was badly thought out. I don't think a lot of what would happen in this book, actually would. I know as a reader, you are supposed to have a suspension of disbelief, but the characters didn't seem real. I liked Jen, but every character suffered from a case of underdevelopment. I know that this is like a children's book, but that doesn't mean that the characters can't have some level of depth. That is my main problem with Meg Cabot's books, and I accept that, but that doesn't justify how annoying the plot was. I don't like revelations happening one the last pages, and things occurred with no set up.

I am disappointed with this book. It was an average read. It could have been better, and that's what annoys me. I would recommend this book to young teenagers.

It was fine. There were some things I really liked and some that I was less fussed on. I really liked that Luke was a genuinely good guy who saw Jenny's value and strengths where no one else did. I liked that empathy was super important to him, as that's not the portrayal of child stars and/or movie stars that you usually get. I didn't care for the way Jenny made Kara over. It was just substituting one outside personality for another. Sure, that one suited her better, but it was pretty bossy rather than encouraging. I thought the thing with Luke and Geri was pretty unnecessary. Why not just let Jenny figure out what's going on with herself and get Luke dealing with his heartbreak (and tattoo) at the end of the story? Oh well.

Dear Annie,

I really like him, and he says he really likes me, but he still has the name of his last girlfriend (who dumped him cruelly six months ago) on his bicep. What should I do?

The New Girl

Dear New Girl,

Tell him two's company, and three's a crowd. If he wants to get with you, he's gotta get with tattoo removal first.
