This is a great middle grade book and will be a perfect read aloud, particularly around banned books week. I usually do something with my intermediate students around this issue but this is a great way to introduce the issue to younger readers. I also love how this book discusses older, Award-winning books that get overlooked these days. What a great way to introduce young readers to older titles. This is definitely going on my library wish lists.

THIS BOOK IS MY NEW FAVORITE AND CHANGED MY WHOLE LIFE. Cried so much because of how moving it was. It is a book for children but it is so important and everyone should read it.

What a fabulous book! Fun protagonist, great supporting characters, superior plot. Still mad the cover doesn't have her BRAIDS in it.

(Hello, WTF. They are actually mentioned FREQUENTLY in the book, it's not just a quick description thing. You can't get the main character correct on the cover? Is this what happens when a male, white author draws a Black, female character? He doesn't even stand up and say the cover art is flat out wrong? I know authors don't get a lot of say but he should have put his foot down. And what are publishers thinking? Get it right, people.)

Ein Buch mit Botschaft und Haltung und trotzdem total unterhaltsam und mitreißend. Daumen hoch für alle Amys dieser Welt!

I enjoyed this book. As it’s a YA; hence, it was very easy to read. At one point, the main character gets in trouble so her parents ground her by not allowing her to read for one week and she wonders how she will survive? I thought it was funny because that would be my worst punishment ever.

"Ban this Book" by Alan Gratz is the story of an elementary student whose favorite book gets banned from the school library.  She doesn't understand why "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" would be banned and finds out that one of her least favorite classmates' parents have demanded that the book be pulled off the shelf.  Can Amy Anne find her voice and help fight the banning of books? What happens when more books are banned? Can Amy Anne and her friends come up with a solution to save both their school library as well as the librarian? This is a humorous tale of what one girl and her friends do to help everyone see why books shouldn't be banned.

3.5 stars.
I appreciate the sentiment, and the storyline was cute. Mrs. Spencer made my skin crawl. Sometimes these 9/10 year olds spoke like they were 40, and it was weird.
