4.5 stars. This was cute and fun and adorable and I wish this author was still writing. But they don't seem to have written anything since this book was published.

The setting of this heroes and villains' world was not explained thoroughly and with so many details left untold my questions kept piling up. It's what I call a great idea executed poorly.

The book was fun to read though, the absurdity of the plot was refreshing and the MC, although annoying at times, had a unique moral sense that made the story more alluring. My favorite part was the villains

This book isn't badly written, (although some people might find its main character's goofy, good-natured enthusiasm to be grating), but it is too long and weirdly structured. Generally a romantic comedy in which one person is keeping a secret from another has just the one secret to be revealed. This book has three: 1) Pat is not a sex worker, 2) Pat works as an evil minion for one supervillain, 3), Pat's mother is a different supervillain. (The blurb implies that Pat works as an evil minion for his mother, but there's actually a whole extra supervillain with plans for world domination in this book before Pat's mother even shows up!) What actually caused me to finally abandon this book were the sex scenes, which are long and don't add anything to the plot or the character development. I wasn't in the mood for pure titillation and gave up reading properly at 65%. I skimmed the rest of the book and came to the conclusion that I can't see Pat and Nick's relationship working long-term.

I disliked some part of it, especially the lack of discussion about the fact that a "superhero" with lots of money hires hookers.
Besides that though, it was fun.

The chaotic energy from this novel has me captivated. It's surprisingly sweet and a little insightful. I appreciated that despite this is supposed to be a fun unserious novel, the author did manage to convey some nice points on superheros/villains and family. For something seemingly to be a smut novel it only had three sex scenes and they were pretty vanilla (not complaining!! just observing because it took me a bit unaware)
I guess the writing style could be considered "cringe", but I don't believe in that concept. It reads like most fan fiction writing style, which is self aware and a little silly.

Honestly if you're looking for a short and fun novel I would definitely recommend this novel. I've never read books in this style before, but after this pleasant experience I really want to read more.

This one was fun. And shockingly explicit considering that when I first started it I thought it was just gonna be a silly heroes + villains love story. And I mean... it is definitely that. But also there is definitely sex.

A very fun read! My favorite bits were definitely Pat's stints as a minion, since I adore how the superhero worldbuilding runs on comedy logic.

Romance-wise, it's okay! I think I definitely enjoyed Pat more, his rambly narrative voice is pretty fun. Pat and Nick both being vers is also cool, although I definitely preferred the sex scenes when Pat topped Nick lol What can I say, I love it when an uptight mf gets dicked down.
