After reading and loving the Ferry Lane Market series, I have to confess, I was disappointed in this book, as the blurb on the back makes it sound cosy and lovely, when it is far from it. The opening of a pet shop was cute and little Hot really was quite the star of the novel, so much love for him from most of the characters.

A few of the support characters were likable, but the main ones mostly just wanted to get drunk and sleep around, which isn't what I'm looking for in a novel like this.

Multiple infidelities, drugs and no morals, as well as the language being coarse, I'm afraid this just wasn't for me. Thankfully it was very easy and quick to read, so I did make it to the end. Unfortunately I won't be reading any more in this series after reading the blurb for the next book....

I absolutely loved this book.

I came across it accidentally 2 days ago and haven’t been able to put it down. A mixture of real magic, real life situations and love. Such an easy read and would truly recommend again and again.

The last page gave me goosebumps!

I’m now onto the next in the trilogy!

I liked it, enjoyable enough summer read but the Rosalar nickname from Josh cost this book a point. This is not Gavin and Stacey and this is not Smithy. Made me cringe every time.

Quick Info
Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone
Part of a Series?: No
----------------------------------
Meeting the Characters
Rosa Larkin
Joshua Smith
Lucas
----------------------------------
What happens?
Rosa is having a difficult time so when she gets the opportunity to restart her life in charge of her own shop she takes it somewhat reluctantly. Her friend Josh tries to help her through the process but shes got quite thick walls around her from a difficult childhood.
Final thoughts
I didn't like this and I'm so disappointed. I didn't expect to just hate Rosa as much as I did. I get shes had a hard time of it, shes got no family but she has a fantastic mate in Josh who clearly likes her but she can't see that. She gets betrayed by Lucas but still sleeps with him? I can't even like the dog.
Its a no from me and I don't get how its got such a good rating.
Would I read again?: No
Would I read this author again?: Doubtful

Trite and predictable

Trite, utterly predictable and simple. Undeveloped characters. Completely glosses over a rape, using it merely as a denouement. The magical element to the book was interesting but the book as a whole is just not worth anyone’s time.
