Garrett wakes up one night feeling like something is up and finds a baby on his porch. At first he thinks it's one of his brothers but the baby is named Garrett Ethan. A day or so later a woman shows up demanding to see her nephew and accusing Garrett of murdering her sister. That woman is Chelsea. Chelsea assumed that when she found her nephew Ethan he would be with his dad and that would be who killed her sister. Chelsea, her sister, and her mom were abused by her father so she does not trust men at all. She starts to realize that Garrett, who raised his siblings when their parents died, is not a bad guy. And she would need his help because Ethan's dad is not a good guy and he wants his son back and Chelsea out of the way.

The Littlest Cowboy was definitely a filler read. I really liked the Brand family and how much they love and cared for each other. This is the type of family that you just wish you were a part of or could hang out with. Garrett being the oldest and having to basically raise his siblings fills the head of the family roll well. His younger brother all have their own individual personalities so that they don't all blend together. And their younger sister is just as strong as the guys and doesn't let anyone walk all over her, even though having so many protective older brothers can be overbearing.

Chelsea on the other hand has no family left. With her mother and sister dead and her father in prison, Ethan is all she has left. But she is strong and will do whatever it takes to protect the only family she has left.

Although this was a cute filler read it had some issues. Chelsea hated men so much that she didn't even like to have a man touch her. Then she goes an
Spoilerhas sex, for the first time every, with Garrett
when she has only been there maybe a week. So much for keeping with her back story and personality. I would have expected them to have at least got to know each other more because she didn't even like him or talk to him much during that week. The relationship was so sudden and felt so rushed that I didn't believe it. It felt forced for the sake of the plot.

The big plan to get Chelsea to stay with the Brand family was for Garrett to make her like him so that she didn't want to leave. This is one of the stupidest things a guy can do because when she finds out your feelings weren't real she will be mad. And it doesn't even matter if his feeling were real but just didn't realize because the intent was to manipulate her feelings.

My other main issue was that when Chelsea realized that by staying with Garrett and his family and keeping Ethan they were in danger. So of course she decides to leave, but not just leave she
Spoilergoes to kill the guy that is after them
. Basically the worst plan ever is what she decides to do. And of course because of this she is
Spoilercaptured and held hostage to be exchanged for Ethan. And nobody is going to be able to leave alive
. So she basically ends up endangering ever person she was attempting to keep safe.

This is a cute filler easy read if you need one, otherwise it might not be worth it for some.

So even though it's got a terrible cover I really really liked this book. It's hella cheesy and slightly unbelievable at times and the heroine is a fucking ninny, but it was fun and while there was some gangsta/thug type drama going on it was still a pretty light read to me and because it's also not too long it was just something nice to curl up and read for the weekend.

There was some editing issues, some lines that made me sit there and go 'what the hell you even mean?' but overall it was great and The fact I got it free was even better. So aside from some mistakes and the fact the heroine is a loon and hates men, I really enjoyed it and even want to continue the series!

I loved the hero and the baby, so I gave this a higher score than the plot really deserves. The family is really interesting. I'll likely read more of the series.

The Littlest Cowboy by Maggie Shayne was a great short read. This first book in the Texas Brands Book introduces you to all of the main characters. It starts off right in the first few pages with a big surprise and builds up from there. I find it quite refreshing to have a short read that gives one romance, action, drama and a little sense of comedy all mixed it to one. I quite enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading Book 2: The Baddest Virgin in Texas

Sheriff Garrett Brand wakes up to a baby on his doorstep and note that says its his. Having raised his younger siblings on his own, he is no stranger to have young ones around the house, but this little one’s mama is in trouble.

Chelsea, grew up in home filled with violence. It is a past her sister hadn’t escaped. As Chelsea identifies her sister’s dead body, she once again is certain that she will never allow a man to have control over her life. She wants to find her sister’s son and make his father pay for what he has done.

I have a soft spot for rancher romances. Garrett Brand, of the Texas Brands, should be a cliche. He is a large, soft spoken, gentle man with a big heart, who has already proven himself a capable family man as he has raised his young siblings. In other words, too good to be true. Truthfully though, he isn’t. Instead he is the perfect hero for a story like this. He is just the right amount of swagger and confusion when dealing with the fairer sex. Chelsea should be a typical man-hating cynical heroine… wait, that is exactly what she is, though she comes around nicely in the end. Her character is a bit formulaic, but there is plenty of character in the Brand family. Each sibling is fascinating in his or her own way, and a story waiting to be told. The interaction between themselves and Garrett is heartwarming. It is obvious that little “Bubba” will have a place in that family if his aunt can get herself set straight The story itself was terrific. The great blend of cowboy, suspense and romance. I picked up this book as part of a set and I am looking forward to reading about the Oklahoma Brands. I actually have a few books from this author on #TBRList. She obviously can craft a story, she deserves a read for her Goodreads bio alone.

I'm bored. For some reason, I can't seem to get into it.

What can I say? I'm always going to like a romance where the male-lead is a protector and caregiver who wouldn't hurt a fly.

This is an older book but I enjoyed it. Garrett Brand is the sheriff. He's also a rancher and a gentle giant who raised his siblings after his parent's death in a car crash when he was 18 years old. He wakes up one morning to find a baby on their doorstep. The note says the baby's name is Garrett Ethan Brand. Garrett knows he is not the baby's father but believes he must help the child...he falls a little in love. The next day Chelsea Brennan comes to the ranch and accuses him of murdering the baby's mother who is her sister. Chelsea does not trust men. Her father beat her, her mother and her sister and ended up killing her mother. After seeing the Brand siblings, she comes to believe that Garrett would not have killed her sister and that he isn't the baby's father. They learn the father is a major bad guy who wants his son back. We get to see a relationship develop between Garrett and Chelsea, both of whom are unsure of how to have a relationship. There was the requisite happy ending.

I'm a sucker for a big tough guy that's really a sweet cinnamon roll and add a baby... well I was suckered from the start.
Garret, our lead male, is just this big ol' softy who finds a baby on his doorstep and it was hard not to keep reading from there as Maggie Shayne writes some amazing characters.
I appreciated that Chelsea, the heroine?, is a feisty, smart, and humble woman who clearly loves her family.
I also appreciated and loved that all the other characters read as very grounded individuals that do love and respect each other. The sibling love/hate is there and written beautifully as they embrace Chelsea and the baby as their own.
Definitely will read another in this series!
