Perfect. Absolutely perfect. If you asked me the best part of this book... it's all of it.

When "The Oatmeal" published the first part of this book (about the Blerch) on the website, I loved it. We we just starting out on the path to becoming runners at the time and a lot of the emotions I was feeling were captured perfectly there.

My husband pre-ordered this book months ago, so it arrived on our doorstep the day it came out. And we both rushed through it. So much truth in here.

I didn't know going into this book would be filled with awesome pictures and comics. It's pretty hilarious and accurate. Fast, easy read.

This somehow made me sad. I do not really know why. Maybe it is because Inman seems to run for completely different reasons than I do.

However, it also made me laugh. And as I read this book this morning and still have to think about it, it is definitely a good book for everybody who likes to run. And for all fans of The Oatmeal of course.

“I punish my body outdoors to atone for my atrocities indoors.”

Story of my life.

Ok, so this book had me bent over laughing like a crazy person in a padded room. No joke. I run simply because of all the horrible things I put into my body. I admit that without any shame or embarrassment.

Are you one of those people that only eat the frosting off of the cake or cupcake? If so, are you one of those that will judge others for taking a spoon to the frosting container simply to cut down the steps?

I am one to walk around the house on my day off and enjoy a big ‘ole spoonful of frosting. Then I usually end up running around cleaning or something from the intense sugar intake.

This book is awesome. Plain and simple.. Keep these books coming!!

Received this book from Netgalley/Publisher in exchange for an honest review!

The Oatmeal. <3

I already love the Oatmeal and the comics there, and I was totally happy when I saw this one on Netgalley.

Quite a few of the comics are ones you already can read/find on the site for the Oatmeal, but there are also various new ones. I really enjoyed seeing old and new combined.

And yeah, thanks Matthew Inman for those horrific drawings of bees and hornets. *shivers* I do hope I will never meet those critters, I am not sure what I would do, stand still and hope for the best or run away as fast as I can.

The book is all about his running, what he thinks of it. What he thinks of diets. But also has tips and hints about running. And while I am not one to start running, I did enjoy those tips and if one day I decide to run I know I will at least have had some advice. :)

It was a really fun book and I was laughing out loud quite a few times, it was just that hilarious.

And while I don't run, I do other things and I know all about the Blerch and how annoying he is.

All in all, I would really recommend this book to everyone, even if you don't want to run, I would say read this, you won't be disappointed.

I'm not a runner, I hate running. I simply bought this book because The Oatmeal never ceases to disappoint in keeping me entertained and making me laugh. This didn't disappoint and actually makes me want to go out and run a little bit... tomorrow.

Enjoyed the narrative and some of the jokes, but really not a fan of Inman's art style.
