Original review at Gabic Reads as part of the Command Me Blog Tour.

Clara is learning to be independent and take care of herself. She's pulling away from her overbearing mother. She just got out of a bad relationship and wants to stand on her own two feet. But she finds Alexander when she least expects it. She also doesn't expect that he's one of the most prominent men in the country. Prince Alexander. My favorite thing about Clara is that she's willing to stand up for herself, but to also make sacrifices and take chances. She won't let X hide his relationship with her once she's fallen in love with him. But she's willing to give X what he needs.

Alexander's family is obviously based on the real Royal family. The Queen mother with a son whose wife is dead, and two grandsons. At times it bothered me, but most of the time it makes it more realistic.

I am so excited to see what's in store for X and Clara in In His Majesty's Service. I didn't realize there was a sequel until I finished the book. I'm glad that I get more of X and Clara because I love them so much!!

I picked this one up, because I never read an erotic novel before and I wanted to see what the hype around them is about, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. Also this book was everywhere (in Germany) and I wanted to see why it was hyped so much.

It was a quick read and, of course, nothing to take too seriously.
The book comes across like a typical Wattpad story and is as badly written as one. It is not well developed, the characters solve their problems with sex (so not at all) and everybody is conveniently rich ,to show how our leading lady does not care about wealth, is “not like other girls“- which, of course, makes her the perfect match for the dark and troubled prince. Really all the main couple does, is either talking about sex, having sex, complaining about their families or talking about how their relationship is wrong and they are going to ruin each other. The story is full of clichées and you will roll with your eyes multiple times through out this story, because the characters (especially the “royal“ family) are so damn stupid and unrealisticly written. You don't really get to care about the characters either, even though both main protagonists have some serious issues from their past to deal with. The story ends with kind of a cliffhanger, but I am not going to continue with the trilogy, because I simply do not care.

I think I understand why these books are so popular, but if all them are as badly written as this one, I am not seeing myself reaching for them in the future (if there even is something like “good“ erotic literature).

[I am sorry for any obvious and not so obvious typos, english is only my second language.]

My rating is solely based on the entertainment factor of the book, realistically it would deserve a lower rating and is far away from being a masterpiece of literature. But having fun while reading is what counts, right? I found it on one of those book-sharing-shelves and the synopsis sounded so dumb yet like so much fun that I had to take it with me for one of those moments I’d crave shallow entertainment. And I got what I wanted, the story is as stereotypish and predictable as the synopsis predicts but I had so much fun reading this book.

It’s been a while that I’ve had the feeling of „I can’t put the book down“ and I binged through the book so fast I’m actually impressed. I wanted to order the other 11 books right away but a friend reminded me to be reasonable, so I got only the next five. Can’t wait for them to arrive.

I found it a bit hard to rate this book. There were aspects that I enjoyed and others that I did not. It started off really good but as it went along I kind of started to not care for the MMC and in some instances the FMC too. I think the issue was the constant back and forth between the FMC and the MMC. The book also ends on a cliffhanger and I'm not too keen on books that do that. Overall, it wasn't a bad book but it also wasn't super amazing either.

I've never heard a controlling dom beg so much for permission to control someone. It was off-putting to say the least.
