Great winter read. I wanted more from the ending - some of the writing in the last few chapters felt lazy but otherwise well done. Lucy Foley manages to keep the surprises well hidden for the most part but some things I did see coming. I read The Guest List first and it has many similarities.

Fantastic plot structure, an incredibly intricate way of revealing information, but none of the characters were particularly likeable, and I didn’t love the depiction of mental illness.

I feel like there were too many characters, so you didn't develop enough attachment to them and many of them didn't really have a role in the plot. I also felt like the back and forward between the end and beginning gave too much away too early and affected the pacing. It didn't really build-up in the same way other thrillers do and the ending felt rushed and by that point, predictable, as it had been hinted at since page 1. I loved the setting and found the writing addictive though.

It's a good thriller - especially on audio.  The different British accents brought life to these characters that I would have missed reading in print.

The book was very very slow to get going, I felt like it could have been very much shorter. Again, some great descriptions from this author but this time there was just too many characters and not enough happening. I wasn’t drawn to liking or rooting for any of them and just felt everything was quite surface level - I wasn’t at all invested in the plot.

most adult thrillers tend to be the same to me. a group of adults who all have secrets, a mysterious location, and a short time frame for the book. and yet, so little tends to happen until the very end of the book that it makes it very hard to get through. while the reveal was pretty fun
emma being the big villian and getting to hear her sick thoughts through all of it is quite enjoyable, pretty much the only part of the book i felt super engaged in rather than just listening to
. in all i definitely think there are better thrillers that kept me more engaged, but i can’t bring myself to give this any less than a 3 bc i don’t think it deserves that :/

this was very very good and i didn’t even expect any of the plot twists of which there were quite a few.
i’m glad i wasn’t able to work it out till the end maybe that’s me being a bit slow but was more exciting this way.
