I'm a simple girl. I like books. I like art. I like pretty language. I like books about art filled with pretty language. 4 stars because, although, I loved this so much, Savas hinted at a lot of interesting ideas but never fully developed them. I wanted more more so much more.

i think that the idea of the book drew me in more than actually reading it. the emotion and character work is so layered and buried that even reading through the very end, you almost miss it. maybe i need to reread it though! this recent trend of unnamed narrators acting as a reflection or refraction for the stories of the people around them is sometimes hit or miss for me. i kept waiting for something even a little more shocking to happen. hands down what i liked most about this book was the discussion of art. i wish that the whole atmosphere of the book had been more dramatically gothic, but anytime it talked about gothic nudes i was interested

Being at many points unsettling, White on White is beautifully constructed and i finished it in one sitting! Agnes is an uncomfortable character and she was explored wonderfully in the story, i never had a solid like or dislike of her until the very end, much like getting to know someone personally. A great read!!!

“I see so much of myself in you, [...] your reserve, your elegant detachment. The way you’ve set out to succeed. And your flawless aesthetics, of course, if I may flatter myself with the comparison. I know how much work it requires to strip your life of everything unwieldly.”

Not a fan. It took me forever to read, I kept missing the point, over and over. I couldn't care about the narrator at all. One review on the back of the book said this book is about loneliness, and I can understand that.

I like how vague the setting and narrator-character was.
