i hope to write a review soon but here is a summary of my thoughts: edward is a hypocritical, controlling, manipulative, whiny ass pick me boy dipshit who angered me so much at times that i literally gasped out loud in public, which i did not appreciate XD

First, this book is WAYYYY too long….
Midnight Sun is nice in the way that it provides exactly what you’d expect - twilight from Edward’s perspective with almost no new scenes. As we knew before, Edward is fully obsessed with Bella from the minute he decides not to take her life. It’s adorable, endearing, and also a tadddd (very) creepy. The twilight series remains one of my favorite comfort series, but I don’t think I’ll feel the need to read this book again :) I’m really glad we got this retelling, though, I’ve been curious about Edward’s inner monologue for quite a while

Alice and Jasper always gonna be my fav ^^
Read this as a joke, and damn Edward - please calm your stupid thoughts, thank you.
Like brother, you want to be with her - okay; but you so annoying and for what, just be quiet and go for it for the love of god.

“It’s twilight,” I said. The time when vampires came out to play—when we never had to fear that a shifting cloud might cause us trouble—when we could enjoy the last remnants of light in the sky without worrying that we would be exposed.”

Midnight Sun is a Twilight retelling from Edward's POV. I wish that we'd gotten more new content - things that Edward did without Bella - but I should have expected that it would be mostly the same as the original. The parts that we did get that were new, mostly parts from Edward's past and Edward did while Bella was in Phoenix, was interesting enough to make it worth reading this book. I also enjoyed getting to read everyone's thoughts as things were happening too. The insta-love worked a lot better from Edward's POV than it did from Bella's. He's a lot less dramatic about it. He's a lot more concerned about the mechanics of a human/vampire relationship. I'd read the first draft back when it was leaked, so it was nice to read the remaining two-thirds of the book after all these years.  A caveat to the three-star rating, I'd only recommend it to those with Twilight nostalgia.

I was twelve when the first book came out, it was a bigger book which was the reason I ended up picking it out of the stack I was interested in.I thought here is a book that might take me awhile to enjoy, I was wrong;2 days and I had finished it and it left an impact. For one, this is one of the first times I had binge read a book so intensely, I loved the soulmate aspect and that fate was bringing them together. Two, I found that supernatural fantasy was in my wheelhouse and that means there will always be a soft spot for the series and finally it was written by a woman. Which, was a big influence as well to get the book.
Now 16 years later, this is the same story just someone else is telling it, it hasn’t evolved or grown in style except for the fact you get to see more then Edwards view. Which is fun seeing the views of others through a mind-reader, I haven’t really came across a book that has really done that before.
That all being said, the relationship in this story is cringe (in a bad way) and really creepy. Edward stalks Bella to the point of crawling into her room at night to watch her sleep (that includes oiling her window for soundless access)he also follows her around and looks into other peoples minds to keep track of her movements and hating himself for doing it but not stopping. He is possessive (he calls it protective) and this girl thinks it’s all flattering and how lucky she is that a guy this hot and supernatural loves her. Bella isn’t any better she is selfless to a fault of not having any self-preservation, not really having a personality just traces of traits that might build a fleshed out character if fully realized, she wants to do nothing for herself and doesn’t really think much of her future.
The realization that this unhealthy relationship is not only being shown to adolescents but being praised as one of the great love stories is the biggest cringe of all.

Definately made me remember the first time I was reading Twilight. I just wish this was the original first book and we got to read the story from Edward's POV all throughout the series.
I really liked reading more of the Cullen's family interactions and grew to love Alice and surprisingly Emmet more than I did reading them from Bella's POV. Rosalie wass never my favorite and this book just made me hate her even more.

There were a few scenes that were new to readers when told from Edward’s perspective and those were worth the read. Mostly a repeat but told with Edward’s self-loathing voice. Weird because Bella’s voice is also very self-deprecating. Why do they hate themselves so much? I mostly enjoyed Alice’s character and learning more about the Cullen’s through access to Edward’s thoughts.
