Dina has a problem - there’s a man she needs to kill, but she needs help in hiding the body. Enter Heavy, the president of the Steel Bones Motorcycle Club, which Dina’s older brother Wall is a member of. When Dina attempts to blackmail him to help her with this crime, he counters it with an offer of marriage in the name of spousal immunity.

I knew I was going to love this the minute I read the description and I was absolutely right. I could easily have ploughed through this in one sitting had I put my mind to it. The writing flows so well and is very easy to read and the plot is really interesting and different. This book made me feel a lot of things and I loved every minute of it.

Dina was a great heroine. I adored her. Her voice was so strong, her personality so distinct whether it was her POV or Heavy’s. I loved seeing how her mind worked and how she processed things. Her autism was handled really well. I also really liked Heavy - I liked how he took Dina in his stride, how observant he was in noticing when she was becoming overstimulated or wasn’t sure how to process a certain situation -
Spoilerthe recurring detail of him remembering her sunglasses was really cute.
. I just loved how in Heavy was from the start - he just embraced her being his wife and caring for her.

As a couple, they had really good chemistry. This is a really steamy novel
- the parts in the strip club, where they watched two of the performers have sex, were really hot, and I also liked Heavy’s approach to Dina in this scene. Both Dina and Heavy’s attraction to one another felt really palpable, but I also liked that the novel showed them developing emotional feelings for one another, too.

Overall it was just a really fun and sexy novel, despite some of the heavier content. It felt really well-paced and well-plotted, the characters were good, and the central romance worked really well. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a steamy motorcycle club romance with a marriage of convenience.

Content Notes:
SpoilerWarnings: Organised crime, murder (on-page), blackmail, gun violence, rape (off-page, side characters), death of a loved one (in past), implied alcoholism / alcohol dependency (on-page, side character).

Other: On-page sex, virgin heroine, exhibitionism / voyeurism.

My first MC romance! And I survived. Cate C. Wells got me like a lobster in a pot with her Stonecut County small-town series (totally my thing) and I of course had to find out how Dina Wall got her big, hairy biker. I've enjoyed the autistic rep in Stonecut so far and was excited to read a heroine on the spectrum. Wells does such a good job getting you inside a character's head and making them a multifacited protagonist. She does this with Dina (who's a balsy delight), but also for our tough guy hero, Heavy. What other author enumorates the joint problems and other physical ailments that come wtih being a 7-foot mountain of a man? There were also plenty of plot pivots and surprising settings (Vegas, baby) that kept me engaged throughout. Am I going to become an MC romance divotee now? Probably not. And clearly you need to invest some time in these series. It was pretty hard to follow all the complex dynamics between the large cast of the Steel Bones MC (we're in Book 6 already) and I'm still ambivilent about reading romances with this much inherent violence. That said, I'm absolutely going to read Heavy's sister's book when it comes out, because I do love a broken woman romance. And because it's writen by Cate. C. Wells.

Didn’t love this one. Maybe I’m just over this series. The series wrap up parts were cute but I don’t need that type of closure. The two MCs just seemed really inconsistent to me. I did like her portrayal of an ASD character, mostly.

I like Rory, and Harper, and Mia. I really like Heavy, and Dina. And I frequently adore Cate C Wells writing. I have lots of highlighted quotes and passages, and even more than I don’t highlight because for the full impact I’d be highlighting whole pages. But a lot of what I love about this book I can’t put into words. I can tell you it’s five stars and I’ve read it multiple times though.

Dual POV
Autism
Motorcycle club
Conspiracy to commit murder
Marriage of convenience (spousal privilege regarding testimony)
Unexpected love
Tragedy and trauma
Revenge, maybe justice, possibly peace
Finding joy in unexpected things

when I tell you I’m obsessed with their dynamic 🙂‍↕️

the entire SBMC series seems really interesting (so far I’ve only read Plum and Against a Wall, which are only adjacent really) 👀 maybe I’ll dive into Dizzy next, we’ll see

and no pressure or anything, but I’d love Harper‘s book sometime in the future - she makes for such an interesting side character

This is a new to me author. Even though this isn't the first book in the series, I was not lost. In fact, it just made me want to go back and read the other books.

I started with this book because I was intrigued about Dina . I liked the idea of a character that was "different." I was skeptical that the author could do her justice. I was wrong. Dina was delightful. I found myself enjoying her take on real life situations. I, also, loved Heavy and how he interacted with her. Together, these two had me invested from the beginning to the end. The story was great, and there were great secondary characters.
