Has the Lenchester Strangler returned or is it a copy cat.  This is a very complicated case.  Solving it made more difficult by the fact that Cavendish and Walker are having a difficult time in their relationship.  I found this problem to be very realistic and consistent with their characters.  They are able to put things together and work to solve the case.  I think this might be the best book so far in the series.  I would recommend it but suggest reading the series in order.

When a woman is found dead, strangled by a pink chiffon scarf, one of Whitney’s officers nearing retirement age raises the similarities with a case from the 80s. With the culprit never found and the suspected culprit recently out of prison for a different crime but with dementia, the race is on to find the copycat or murderer before more bodies start appearing.

Another gripping murder mystery with new challenges thrown at our protagonists as they deal with the case but also issues in their personal lives.

An ice cold case looks like it might be getting really hot in Lenchester. Rigby's done it again with an intriguing addition to the series. This story pursues another unsub with an MO different from any we have encountered previously. The MO does seem familiar to some of the force though. Likewise, the friendship between Cavendish and Walker seems to be hearkening back to the earlier days of their relationship. Can they move past their personal issues to stop the killer? Perhaps the creepiest parts of this story are the peeks into the mind of the killer.

This is book 5 in the series but can be read and enjoyed as a standalone. The mystery is fully contained in this book and there is enough information given to jog the readers memory of previous events or to inform a new reader so they can follow the relationship side threads. It is a good balance and well done, no info dumps.

Another gripping outing for Whitney and George, will our crime fighting duo overcome their personal problems to solve their latest case? This series just keeps getting better, although the wait for the next book fills me with dread....
