I thought this was so good as a young teen but upon reading it again I was sourly disappointed. I love and appreciate L.J. Smith for her creativity (The Forbidden Game is still my favourite- but to be fair I haven't read that for a while). But I just found this book to have way too many descriptions of eyes, it was very repetitive, and there wasn't lots of character development besides them fitting into static tropes. The best to me was Spell Binder because I'm interested in Wicca culture and mythology but I'm just so overly familiar with vampires that I'm kind of over it, I've seen if written better before. This was over 700 pages and by the time I was partially through it I was like, well I can't stop now. Future mila do not pick this book up again. Of course these are just my opinions and I love literature and no disrespect to authors who I criticize!

So, let me start off by saying that the only reason this book has two stars is because I have to admit, the night world is interesting.

The writing is blah. It's a tad plain but it pushes the story along which I guess is okay. The characters all seemed to have something similar: they find a soulmate in a human; which became boring after the second book Daughters of Darkness.

One thing really urked me: Smith ALWAYS made the character think that they had changed. It's called SHOW not TELL which really annoyed me. It was almost as if she thought we were too stupid not to notice the change in characters. Blah.

And are these seriously books? I found that there were extremely short and to me they felt more like novellas than actually novels.

The one thing Smith has done right is make their world interesting enough that I might actually give the next 3 in 1 a shot.

Overall, there was real no example as to why these are bestseller books.

Finally! Vampire/werewolves/witch romances that I can finally feel OK recommending to twilight lovers. No creepy, obessive Edwards, girls that are actually developed characters - brave, compassionate, insecure, with somewhat realistic beauty standards. So what if all the chapters end on cliff-hangers, everybody has PERFECT relationships with their soulmates, and there are the occasional silly typos like "now" instead of "know"?

Read these like you eat candy...you don't need to tell anybody how much or how fast you go through it.

3 stories in one book, the characters are connected which I for one like, well written, I've been a fan since the 90s and just found this series, looking forward to the next two.

I really enjoyed this book, along with the others in the series. I highly reccomend this book to people who enjoy fantasy books. I CAN'T WAIT FOR "Strange Fate" TO COME OUT!!!

No matter how times I reread these books, I love them just as much as I did the first time.
