Totally recommend to anyone who needs to spend less time on their phone. Though I honestly thing everyone should since smartphones have had a lot of negative impacts on you mental health. But I think the book acknowledged that yes, smartphones are helpful in a lot of way, but we just need a more healthy relationship with them.

This is good info. Probably most people will just read it all in one or two sittings, I did, and take the advice given for the 30 day “break up” plan. It does provide good tips and tricks and ideas. Although I think most of it could be found by reading a few articles on the internet so this is a good one to check out from the library. It did give me the push to set up some parameters and ask myself what I want to get out of my phone.
Two things I found problematic about the advice:
- the author assumes all “emergencies” and most important communication comes from phone calls. I don’t know many people who actually use their phone for calls. It’s mostly texts and emails.
- it seems to be focused for city people with comments about not taking your phone even for emergencies because “everyone around you has a phone”.

This book has some very good, very doable suggestions about how to spend less time with your phone and how to be more mindful and intentional when using it.

If you know me, then you know I don’t like self-help books and I’m awful at answering my phone (it stresses me out). This book was just what I needed and the first self-help book that had actually helped me. I haven’t even begun the 30 day break up schedule the author has laid out, but already I’m more aware of how my phone plays a big role in my life for negative reasons, and I’ve been able to already implement changes to improve that. I strongly recommend this book.

This is a good read with brilliant tips to get you to reduce screen time. It doesn't go through the steps to quickly so you have time to adjust to each one. I recommend owning a copy of the book and highlighting some key steps so you can revise them if you find yourself drifting.
