Okay, so I love a good hockey romance, and author Kendall Ryan has proven that she's great with those. But she's already written a whole team's worth in her Hot Jocks series, so what, I wondered, would be left to say? Well, let me just tell you that she showed me, because I thoroughly enjoyed Holt's and Eden's story in THE REBEL, and am completely on board to see what's next.

One of my favorite things about this book is that, rather than jump right into the players' stories, Kendall started with Eden's. As the heiress to the Boston Titans, Eden Wynn has got plenty working against her. Young, beautiful, and with plenty to prove to fans, players, and herself, Eden's got her work cut out for her as far as owning a professional hockey team goes. When you add in the fact that her hockey playing ex is on the team, things are bound to get tricky. But Eden's armed with determination, grit, and support in the person of Holt Rossi.

Holt Rossi is a blast from the past that Eden was not expecting. Their shared history is short, but one that neither has ever forgotten. And as Holt, responsible for Eden's security, spends more time with Eden, the feelings that have never really gone away prove to be stronger than ever.

The fact that I really liked both Eden and Hold made this book even more enjoyable for me. And, while it is the first book in a sports romance series, Kendall makes THE REBEL much more about two people helping each other become the best versions of themselves, and that personal connection is what really makes the story for me. THE REBEL is a solid 4 star read for me, and, given the hints left at the end of the book, I'm looking very forward to THE RIVAL, which is Alex's and Aspen's book. In the meantime, pick up THE REBEL and enjoy. ❤️

Holt and Eden were perfect!! The chemistry from 6 years ago seem to be back between these two and as much as they tried they just couldn’t help falling fit each other again. It was so natural and they clicked. Bring the head of her security team made him even more protective of her and she never gave up bring the team usher. She worked very hard to make the team accept her who by the way had her back completely and were huge fans of her relationship with Holt. The ex wasn’t a huge issue and never interfered. He did say some not too nice things but these two just swept it under the rug. Great story!!

“I made the wrong choice.”

Honestly, this is just a second choice romance disguised as second chance... which would've been fine had it been done well, but this entire book feels.. bleh. It was so flat and so poorly developped, and the unbalance between the H and h was so clear, I just couldn't feel shit for them..

Note: An ARC was provided by the author.

Series starters are important in my eyes because they tend to set the pace, as well as the bar, for everything else to follow, even if every single book is a standalone. One of the best things about Kendall Ryan's new series starter is that I thoroughly enjoyed the main characters, Eden and Holt, while also leaving you eager for whatever else is to come as the rest of the Looking to Score books start rolling in. Both Eden and Holt had this notable relationship, but they were also intriguing as separate individuals, allowing me to get to know them better while also having me excited to see how they would evolve as a couple. From beginning to end, The Rebel kept me very much entertained. I'm giving it 4.5 stars.

After a steamy one night stand (ish), Eden and Holt lose touch until he shows up as the head of security for her now that she owns a hockey team. I liked that she had this security presence but never really ended up needing it. The story could have gotten very dark and didn't which I appreciated. Holt was protective and lovely so I was thrilled to see this entire story about him.

I did not like the ex at all and when I saw that he has the second book in the series, I became less interested in reading on. He was such a tool. If I only read one out of the Looking to Score series, I'm glad it was this one.

And I fell completely in love with Holt. I ended up loving Eden as well despite my frustrations with these characters at times. I adored their relationship and I continually rooted for them and loved being on their journey. I couldn't wait to find out how everything would turn out. This story was sweet and sexy and so captivating. I can't wait for more from Kendall and to see what she has in store for us next!

The Rebel is book one in the Looking to Score Series. This book is told from dual points of view from Eden and Holt. There is a short story before this one, but you really don't need to read it as this book starts from the exact same spot, and the first few chapters are the same. Which is nice if you haven't read it yet or a nice little refresher.

Eden and Holt spent one night together in College, but she was pining for someone else. She ended up dating this other guy for 5 years, before their relationship fell apart. Now she is the owner of her grandfather's hockey team after he passed away and her ex-boyfriend just so happens to have been recruited to her team before she got a hold of it.

Holt is hired on as her professional bodyguard as a lot of fans are not happy about having a woman be in charge of this team. They think she's going to sleep with the players and the team won't do well with her in charge.

We get to look at Holt and Eden's relationship grow as well as her growth with the team. I really enjoyed getting to know Holt and Eden and can't wait to read the next book in the series.
