I have never read anything by Holsinger before and now I will be reading all of books! This book is heartbreaking, frustrating, and has hope in the middle of it all. It is a spectacular read and all too real.

Thought it would be more about the struggle of dealing with sudden displacement due to climate events, which it was, but it got in the weeds with some of the characters and I got bored

idk if I'm just biased coming off a string of not so great reads, but holy cow this book was so good. One of the best I've read this year for sure. This book uses multiple narrators REALLY well: there are many facets of each character that are "hidden" from view until it's their turn to narrate. This book is also the perfect balance of dystopian and scarily believable. Not to mention, who doesn't love a sweet family redemption arc. Many twists and turns I didn't see coming, all-in-all a truly enjoyable read.

I also loved Holsingers "The Gifted School" as well, so maybe he's a must-buy author for me now.
