Really good
I really liked this one. Nate and his snark had me going. I, personally, did not see that twist coming. So I'd definitely recommend this for anyone interested the mood for a paranormal snark-fest.

the idea of this book is something i should love. an arranged/forced mating, hate-to-love with one side secretly in love all along, and werewolves! but unfortunately this book just didn't work for me. i never really connected with any of the characters or the plot. i think it would have benefited from being a bit longer, maybe spending more time letting the characters just exist together instead of constantly having them in situations. i never really got to see the feelings develop and so in the end it just felt too rushed and unbelievable.
overall an enjoyable but forgettable read. will probably read more in the series when i want a quick urban fantasy read.

I came across this book in the "recommended" section on my Kindle, decided to give it a try... and I'm so glad I did! This explicit paranormal romance was just what I needed to unwind after a long day. We meet snarky warlock Nate Hawthorne as he's struggling to escape from a sinister curse being placed on him. As he flees his captors through the woods, he runs (almost literally) into werewolf Ian Armitage, who is trying to protect his pack's land. Because of the curse, the two find themselves forced to mate... but that doesn't mean they have to like each other. The attraction is palpable, however, and what follows is a sexy, action-packed adventure that kept me reading well after I should have been in bed. My only critique is I would have liked a bit more world-building and explanation regarding how the magic works. Other than that, I think I'm hooked. I'm definitely downloading the next book in this series!

Grayson did a good job of creating a werewolf story that doesn't rely on alpha tropes to build characters. I had fun listening to Nate and Ian try to navigate their way around a difficult situation. The narrator's character voices were a nice addition to the story too.

I wish this book was a bit longer and took more time to flesh out the characters and their relationships to each other. I like the idea of being forced to mate with someone you dislike. It was, however, abundantly clear, from the first time Ian's supposed reasons for hating Nate were mentioned, that Ian actually liked Nate. Since I am not a big fan of forced miscommunication, it got a bit annoying at times. I also wasn't invested enough in the characters to actually care about what happened to them, thus making the plot not really engaging.

One of those books where the romance has a HEA but the surrounding plot has no end and I’m guessing will run through all the series. Well written though.

Well, this is refreshing! Funny, intelligent, thoughtful characters, none of whom are made to hold the Idiot Ball. The plot rolls forward without trouble, the fact that the viewpoint character can't see his love interest's ... interest is both sensible and plot-relevant, the snarky sarcasm was actually snarky and sarcastic... Wow.
I'm off to get the next one!
