Let me start by saying that I think it is good that DC decided to have a fully gay heroine.
The problem with this series is not that she is a lesbian.
The problem with this story is that she is written and drawn like a whore. I am not saying that she should be all prim and proper librarian lady by day, and kick-a** superhero at night, but this is just ... bad. I think that DC decided to have her be gay, to win over some gay or bisexual fans into their books, but they drew Batwoman's costume as a latex outfit without a bra, so that her permanently hard nipples always show. I wouldn't like that even from a straight heroine. I hated the 'nipple-suits' from the Batman and Robin movie. This is just as bad.
And then, Batwoman is very easy and meets a woman and has sex with her immediately. This does not create a good role-model for anyone. I realize this is a comic book, but again, that is the point. She has more sex than she does heroic things.
DO NOT INVEST YOUR TIME OR MONEY!

I love Batwoman, and when I say love her I mean I have a crush on her which is very rare for me.

Kate Kane has a very dear place in my heart, and not just because she is a part of the Bat-family but because she is the very first sapphic hero I have seen in comics. I know there are other queer characters (heroes and villains) as well but she might be the only one who has a big enough role in the comics to talk about.

I also loved the artwork in this comic book. It was very haunted-like, appropriate for Kate Kane. And everyone is talking about Kate's colours. Yes, she looks like she has been spending time at a spa with Harley Quinn, but that did not disturb me one bit. It might be the most beautiful artwork I've seen on the new 52 line yet.

As a Bat Fan, so far the Batwoman comic has been feeding my desire for shadows and snark. Batman is cool but almost too broody, whilst Kate Kane has the brood AND the sense of humour to offer a good balance- in a way it reminds me of Joss Whedon's Angel series. Except with more lady lovin' ;)

Continuing that thread, I like how a lesbian relationship is shown as being just another daily thing, it's not put on display or takes over the story. It's just part of Kate's life and we see how it all integrates with her life as Batwoman.

JH Williams continues to amaze and entice me, his art style and the way he uses the form or shape of a label or two page spread to illustrate the flow of the dialogue is just really cool. It's a great example of comic books being not just story but art. The starkness of the bright red against the brooding Crayola colour of Batman Black is just eye-popping and makes you notice things that, in other comics, would kind of blend into the background. I will remain a fan of this series for as long as JH is involved, that's for sure.

Mesmo sem história tão forte como a do Batman do Snyder, ou a pujança dos textos do Azzarello aliada ao traço único de Chiang, a arte de J.H. Williams III compensa todos os eventuais «defeitos» narrativos.
Um dos grandes New 52.

Beautifully done, both individual images and two-page spreads. Compelling story line and characters, I especially liked the interactions with Batman. Manages to hint at things without being obscure, which is sometimes a problem with comics.

This was pretty cool, but it was often hard to follow. The art was great, but sometimes very cluttered and difficult to discern. I'll probably finish the series. I hope the other ones are better.

Read this book. I am convinced that this will be one of the best recurring titles of our time.

Great artwork. Great story. Great characters. This was recommended to me by a person in the game jam group and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading the next volume in the series.

I wanted to like this more because I like Kate Kane but the story is pretty bland.

Not sure if I knew that Batwoman, Kane, was a lesbian, but I like the way the writers choose to tell her story. The special appearance by Batman is an added bonus as well. This book got the green light because of the art though. Few artists are putting together layouts like these, pushing the boundaries.
