This book doesn't give you an extensive detailed childhood of Roald Dahl, if that's what you're looking for, you may be a bit disappointed. However, it shares with you many of the author's memories that were, albeit trivia, very vivid and interesting.
The author also shared some opinions that can make a few people offended, but overall the book can be read from a little kid's point of view. It will be scary for young children these days just to imagine bending over getting a cane on the buttocks. Yes, there's a lot of flogging in this book! It's the 1920s!

What an unexpected delight! I picked this up for a reading challenge and thought it would be fairly interesting to read about my favourite childhood author. I actually enjoyed it a lot, his life was interesting and it’s shocking to think how far behind medicine was when he was a child as it doesn’t seem that long ago. You can definitely see where he got some inspiration for his characters and some of his stories made me laugh out loud

I love reading nonfiction, especially autobiographies. This book was not just any autobiography but a book about Roald Dahl's childhood. Growing up I loved the book Matilda and enjoyed James and the Giant Peach and the BFG and now as an adult I am making it my goal to read all his books. I just set this goal a couple weeks ago and have read this book and The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me.

Roald Dahl told fascinating stories about his childhood up the the age of 18. He explained his extreme love of chocolate and his fear of most of his teachers. I believe these two factors were huge for his writings and stories.

I really enjoyed Roald's autobiography, that he swears wasn't one and I suggest it to anyone that enjoys him as a writer.

I really enjoyed this and found it interesting. It's been on my list for a long time, and I was finally able to sit down and read/listen to it.

Read fragments in class with an adult student :D. We both enjoyed it so much that I continued at home.
Better late than never. So much fun!
