Really excellent and satisfying conclusion. Exceedingly well executed.

This was a solid ending to a series that had some really rough points to it. After everything that happened in the series, what it find the hardest to swallow is that the 14 book saga that took 20 years to write and almost a year to read all took place in two years of story time. That just felt like too short a time for everything that happened. There were many "minor" plot points that got tied up in whimpers rather than bangs, and I really wonder if a very good editor could focus the series down to maybe eight or nine better paced books.

The culmination of the Wheel of Time series delivers everything long-time fans have been craving in a final book. There's an abundance of sword fighting, lots of magic, and political machinations galore. Sanderson does a brilliant job of tying up the loose ends in the amazingly robust world that Jordan built.

I don't want to cover too much plot and risk spoiling, but the book covers the build up to and the details of the Last Battle. There are many unexpected outcomes, both good and bad, so even if you think you know how everything turns out, it's still well worth the read.

Some of the middle books in the series dragged a bit, but this one doesn't have that problem. In fact it moves along at almost too brisk a pace at times, but I found that I didn't miss the long descriptive passages as much as I would have thought.

This one earns four and a half very enthusiastic stars from me!

Well, I have finally finished the series, and what an ending. The book is basically a series of battles, with one battle notoriously expanding a single chapter to 50,000 words. It was intense, fun, and fairly satisfying.

I finally finished the Wheel of Time! This last book is basically one massive battle. I partly think I should own this book just to study it should I ever need to write out a proper battle. But, I'd probably never want to reread it. I read the Wheel of Time because my friend made me, and I was never a big fan of it. I think Sanderson did a good job finishing it. It wasn't his fault that there were three dozen main-ish characters that needed satisfactory endings and another twelve dozen more that needed to at least be mentioned. It was just tiring.

Every time I finish this series, it hurts the same way. It's exquisite.

Fifteen years, and it's finally, mournfully over. The best ending to a long running series that I've ever read. Kudos Sanderson, for picking up the thread and weaving it into something that Jordan would have been proud of.
