So I’m really hit or miss for this one, on one hand it’s cool and fun, on the other there are some really boring parts I didn’t enjoy.

Batman reborn: this is the best arc I think in this book simply because of the way grant Morrison writes professor pyg; how he makes him so horrifying and I usually don’t react often to a comic but I had myself saying “jeez” and “gross” during this because he’s so weird.

The revenge of the red hood: I didn’t really like this one and I’ll say it now I could not take red hood seriously when he had his mask on because he looks like a penis, yes I know it’s immature but when you realize it once it gets stuck in your head.

Overall cool book.

Now we're talking.

Batman and Robin scratches an ich that All-Star Superman just couldn't. I like Batman, and in fact, I love him, even if I don't care that much about him nowadays.

If I'm going to read corny Nostalgia-bait I may as well enjoy it. I'm not saying Nostalgia is doing all of the work here, but... it certainly helps!

If I see it improving I'll upgrade the rating.

Edit: I was wrong. It does not improve. Serves me right for getting my hopes up.

You know when Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly team up you’re going to get a quality story. I really enjoyed this team’s All Star Superman and was curious to see what these masters would do with Batman and Robin. I tried to read Batman R.I.P. when it was coming out.. but I was just so confused by the end I didn’t know what was going on. Too many crossing storylines and tie-ins from different series, too many different writers, and all on top of Grant Morrison’s craziness. I should probably revisit that storyline at some point and read the rest of it, but I’d rather just skip ahead to this series.

Overall Batman Reborn was a decent story. Beautiful artwork, interesting villains, and I loved the love/hate dysfunctional relationship between the new Batman and Robin. I enjoyed watching these new heroes fumbling through their new roles and adjusting to their new identities. Although this wasn’t my favorite Batman story, I did enjoy the story and am curious to see where this team takes things next. If you know me at all then you know that I’ll pretty much read anything by Morrison and Quietly and I have already picked up the next volume.

I don’t know if I liked this comic if I’m being honest. I love the Batkids, but they felt off in this book. Jason was done sooooo wrong, I was pretty disappointed in his character (which is so sad because he’s my favorite). It still kept me fairly engaged and it was a fast read. I feel like I was missing context for the book, so that was playing a part in the confusion and feeling lost. Also, I didn’t like the “gay” joke they added in near the end. It felt out of place and it wasn’t funny at all. Overall, I think this book could have been a lot better because it started off good then it fell off.

And so marks the THIRD time Dick beats the crap out of Jason Todd, then proceeds to berate him for not asking for mental health lmao

Very unfortunate beginning for a Dick!bats run imo...I liked how the volume was starting out with Pyg and all the messed up stuff he's doing. Made for some really creepy imagery. Damian's Robin is also fun with how cocky and just how much of a little asshole he is to everyone. But that's really where my enjoyment ends?

Dick Grayson is definitely a lighter Batman, and I do appreciate how he has moments where he feels like an imposter - but the focus really quickly shifts from that to "let's beat up Jason Todd again because he's ~~crazy~~" which I'm getting tired of lol. Jason once again comes on the scene to clean up Gotham the "right" way of murdering people, but this time he tries to go viral??? This is like when movies reference memes its just cringey. I don't blame the writers for letting Jason steal the show for a while but it's just not anything fresh, and it takes a lot of the focus away from Batman and Robin in BATMAN AND ROBIN.

Also just, very strange art style. There are time where Damian looks fine, and other times he looks like he's 50.
