3.5 stars.

Low angst fluffy age gap, best friends son. Did skim over some parts where it didn’t hold my attention but I found it to be a great “brain cleanser” between heavier books.

I read Laying Pipe because I actually wanted to read the next book in the series, [b:Banger|61351912|Banger (Blue Collar Hearts #2)|Kiki Clark|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1656202659l/61351912._SY75_.jpg|96760722] and I don't like reading books in series out of order. And boy, am I glad I read Laying Pipe!

I loved the age gap, the crush Lukas had on John, and the way that John realized that he also had feelings for Lukas! Their relationship starts off very hot, and the only problem is that John doesn't feel ready to tell his best friend that (1) he's bisexual and (2) he's in love and lust with his son.

I liked that Lukas made it very clear from the start that he wasn't interested in being a dirty little secret and that he deserved to be with someone who loved him out in the open. John's hesitation was very relatable, as he feared that he would find the love of his life while losing his best friend.

In the end the way they had to tell Lukas' parents were not ideal, but I loved the way his mom handled it! Hey for supportive moms!

It was a very fun read, and I'm so glad that I started the series here.

Hot May/December romance that has as much sweetness as it has steam, low angst. John’s in his forties when he discovers he’s not as straight as he’s always thought, his bisexual awakening is something he deals with quite well, no internalized biphobia to spoil John and Lukas’s chemistry. John is understandably concerned though by the difficulties that come with being attracted to his best friend’s son. What they have could be the end of a longtime friendship… John and Lucas become friends in their own right before they become lovers, which was lovely, and they fit together really well. It’s a whirlwind romance, and I love how everything worked out!

This was adorable! I haven't read much Dad's best friend romances but this checked all the boxes for me!

The author of this book commented on a FaceBook post of all things that this series had a scene from a funny post and I was truly intrigued. I was planning on just reading the second book but the first chapter was so confusing with all the characters that I bought the first one too and I have no regrets honestly.
This book was a quick and lighthearted read and just what I needed to get out of a huge slump. The animals, the humour, the redemptions, the (sometimes there) communication. It's so frustratingly funny seeing characters who are simultaneously so good and so bad at communication.
As someone who is very used to reading dark romances, I was pretty tense, just waiting for the other shoe to drop or something bad to happen. But honestly I was refreshed

This was fine. Was hoping for a bit more humor and everything was resolved too easily.

It was not the book it's me.
The book itself is very sweet
But idk most of part I read just so long, slow, and boring. And I don't vibe with already develop feelings/relationship or you could called so much pinning between the two mcs, it's just my personal taste.

4/5

Summary: A sweet age gap, father’s best friend, bisexual awakening.  Cute caretaking/perfect match vibes, quite low angst.

Stats: CR, M/M, open door.  Stands alone (may be part of a series).

Notes:  This is sweet, I thought the author really wanted the characters to be “other half,” but it did feel rushed and little too low angst for me to totally love.  I still ate it up though.  I love the older MMC having a little softness around the middle and the line "I want to spend the rest of my life making you laugh and touching your butt."

OTT and Spoilery Content Warnings (CW) and Trigger Warnings (TW):
age gap (42/26), divorce, power play, spanking (light), biting/marking, anal play/anal sex, sex toys, some across the pond vocab issues, death of parents (in the past, off page), animal medical scenes, death of pets, light OM drama, alcohol

This book has the potential to be so good. I enjoyed the characters and the story. My only hesitation is the writing, it keeps jumping not only between dual pov but also between first and third party.
