I’ve come to the conclusion that everything Kristin Hannah writes is genius and wonderful. I was hesitant to start this one after seeing clips of the show on Netflix, but these characters… are so human and real and flawed. It’s hard NOT to see yourself in their families, their careers, their friendship. This was a beautiful ode to girlhood, sisterhood, and chosen family. Not going to lie, cried full tears for this one, a true rarity for me.

3.5, typical Kristin Hannah book, but a tear jerker.... it was a tad too long-winded, but I like her books for the most part.

I could tell from the start that this book was going to fall into the chick lit genre, but there have been some chick lit books I have really enjoyed. This book was not one of them. It employed so many bad clichés. The main characters really did not grow as much as they should of. Kate's martyr complex and jealousy issues got old fast. Tully's cluelessness of the effects of her behavior was not credible.

I would never have finished this book if it hadn't been the pick of a bookclub I am thinking of joining.

I would have rated this 3 stars but then the end got me crying and I had to bump it up to 4. My eyes are still swollen. Don't think I can start the sequel quite yet. Just don't have the energy because it has to be a tear jerker too! Great read on friendship.

This book was everything I love to read about. Best friends, mothers/daughters and stories of love over many years.

I had to read the last 70 pages or so 10 pages at a time. It was the only way I could do it and not end up ugly crying for hours.

I loved this. A little Steel Magnolias, a little Beaches, a little Terms of Endearment. I related to these best friends, though they were about 10 years older than me. I laughed and cried. I love a good emotional ringer that doesn't feel like it is contrived as such.

A bit long, but ultimately a heart wrenching and heartwarming story of best friends.

Another very solid book from Kristin Hannah that captures the struggle many women face when building their lives, namely how to balance work and famiily and can anyone have it all? In this story that question is wrapped up in the lifelong friendship of two women. The book does a pretty good job capturing how much work it can be to nuture any relationship that lasts so many years. I wish I had found the character of Tully to be a bit more relateable, but maybe I just feel that way because I identified more with Kate.

all I did was cry. I don't think I could ever read this one again since it mirror my personal life, but it was epic in it's storytelling.
