What a perfect ending to the series. SO MUCH was happening I couldn't believe my eyes. It was the perfect balance between plot and character development. All the characters were here, and everything came together so perfectly.

This was a satisfying conclusion to the duology, but it was a bit stressful to read as everything that could go wrong went wrong! Check out my full review at Forever Young Adult.

This series completely captivated me from the moment I began it, and while I’m sad to see it come to a close, I have to admit that this is the right ending for it.

The story picks up right where it left off, and every loose plot thread is neatly tied up by the end. While the pace does move slower, the drama and political conspiracies are quite intense. I have to admit, at some points I felt bad for the king because with so many lies and half-truths, would have made my own head explode!

The characters remain as solid as ever. While it took me a while to warm to her in the beginning, Genevieve definitely earned her place in my heart. She fought to redeem herself and earn the love of her friends and those she’d fallen for. Still, no one will ever shine brighter than Sybella, who never backed down, never compromised when she didn’t have to, and whose ferocity always had me cheering for her.

The romances remain solid, and while I enjoyed Maraud and Genevieve’s sweet moments, nothing will ever surpass Sybella and Beast. They are an ultimate power couple, perfect foils for each other, and one of my favourites in YA fantasy.

Even though the action had been toned down, there were certainly some wild moments and battles and schemes. Though I have to say, the one plot involving a bear turned out to be one of the favourite things I’ve ever read.

All of this was accomplished through LaFever’s skillful and beautiful writing, and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next. Bingeing this series has been a delight, and while I will miss it, I am glad it reached the conclusion that left me feeling satisfied and whole.

An amazing finale. Really wrapped up everything that the characters have been working for in a beautiful way. A fascinating time period and world. One I would love to experience. Beautiful :)

Is it funny or sad that I finished the duology, Courting Darkness, before finishing all the books in His Fair Assassin?? I feel like I need to redeem myself and dive back into Grave Mercy and set my mind to finish the books that I never read.

For this book, I dove into the audio version. At first glance, though, I did receive that stupid chapter sampler for an eARC and it was very intriguing enough that I was going to wait patiently for it to be published. It took me a while but I'm finally here diving into this beautiful book and hoping that I will get all the answers that I've wished for.

I won't lie. I really did enjoy the heck out of this. The characters themselves kept me engaged - no matter what storyline I was following. Then there's the court drama, which honestly made me snort sometimes. The things that people said were just hilarious to me. Like for example, when someone would point out the obvious - the Queen being a female and such. I wanted to clap for their little lightbulb moment.

Also female assassins are just such bad asses and are constantly underestimated. Each were loyal no matter what and I just fell in love with them no matter what. The only thing I probably would recommend is a slower-ish ending? Which is kind of weird since it was a long audiobook.. but it just felt rushed in some way. Still liked it all though.

Adored getting to see all the old characters again! This book was a fun adventure, with enough suspense to be interesting the whole way through. So glad it broke my audiobook slump!
