Another solid psychic mystery book for the target age group, though I had to suspend my disbelief about the MC's mom just being fine with letting her go off to investigate a kidnapping when she's only 15 years old. A love interesting introduced, and I like him, as well as the characters' hangouts, even if I'd prefer the story sans romance.

This looks like it will not even get 3 stars from me currently. Bad idea to read them back2back. And so far no real growing up, just more of the same from the first book. And looking at the time it takes me to get through it, I am contemplating DNF.
OK, forced myself to finish it, but regret buying the other books in the series before reading this one.
After thinking about it, I guess I am not really the audience for this, maybe more targeted at to the 12-14 year-old?
Again no sex, but more romance then in the first one, slowly developing.
Story a bit more suspenseful, but still dragging.
MC is crying too much for my taste, without real reasons (for me), should toughen up.
Some things are thought about too much, and explained too detailed to be real thinking.

Read at your own risk, if you read and liked the first, this is better than the first, but not really recommended. Even with the probable intended target-group it feels immature and too young, and could be more suspenseful. Solid writing and going safely in the same direction as the first one warrants the 3 stars for me, but from some other reader or at some another date this would get 2 stars. It is a short read, so something very light for a rainy afternoon, but I know better books I would read instead.

Actual rating 3.5stars.

During a mission to save a little girl our main character's form a new love relationship which also means a new level in their coming of age.

Some appreciation for including a new character with a prostetic leg. Having Crystal realise she has to say no even to her best friends. Seeing Emma's strong efforts pay off.

But the realistic part of me is slightly annoyed by the heroine's recklessness. But that is smth we have to deal with in every book or else we would get nowhere with a story.

Minor issue I also have is with the voice actor and the audiobook quality. (Official audiobook purchased) The sound distance changes amd even the voices and to my brain that can get confusing bca all of a sudden the same character has a different accent or tone.
And some parts are abrupt where it seems something is missing.

Crystal Frost is a fifteen-year-old psychic whose powers have only recently manifested themselves. This second book in the Crystal Frost series follows on directly from the events of Halloween in Fire in Frost. Crystal is investigating the abduction of six-year-old Hope Ross, a case that was brought to her attention at the end of the first book. It's now nearly Thanksgiving, and Crystal, her mother, and Teddy set off to visit Teddy's parents in Florida, along with Teddy's nephew Robin. But does Teddy have an ulterior motive for the trip? Will Crystal be able to solve the mystery of Hope's disappearance with the help of a few friendly ghosts? I see adventure and a blossoming romance in store for Crystal on this psychic road trip.

The story is a bit slow and repetitive at the start, but the pace picks up towards the end. Unfortunately, I had the mystery figured out less than halfway through the book, so I found all of Crystal's musings a bit tedious. Nevertheless, the story development held my interest. There are a couple of nice side stories featuring Crystal's new romance, and it's good to see Emma successfully developing her own psychic abilities and also getting closer to Derek.

I read an ARC with a few editing errors which are hopefully corrected in the final version.

A quick, adventurous, and romantic read for teens ages 13+.

I received this book in return for an honest review.
