I loved book one, but book two was even better. Morgan and Draven’s relationship expands in so many new ways. There are twists and turns I did not see coming - some that I hoped were dreams as I was reading them. But this book swept me away into the fantasy world that Briar has created. I’m already diving into book three.

❤︎ NETGALLEY REVIEW ❤︎

thank you again to netgalley, briar boleyn, and starwater press for sending me this arc for free in exchange for an honest review! please check trigger warnings before you read!

court of claws picks up where queen of roses left off. i loved this book a little more than the first one! this book was a slow burn book, i don’t usually like slow burns but this was worth it. there was more romance, drama, and action as you read more. this book did keep me on the edge of my seat because of so many twists and turns.

the only thing that made me a little upset was that there was so much miscommunication and secrets between kairos and morgan’s relationship, but after reading why i understood a lot better.

also it ended on a freaking cliffhanger! definitely recommend and a must read for fantasy lovers.

Morgan Pendragon finds herself in the Court of Siabra after a perilous attempt to secure Excalibur for her destructive brother. The man she thought she loved is dead and Draven has marked her as his consort in the Court of Umbral Flames. Navigating the treacherous waters of Fae politics and brutal traditions, Morgan grapples with trust issues amidst the dangerous Fae people. With war looming, Morgan is determined to return home, with or without Draven help. As their lives become increasingly entwined, Morgan faces difficult choices, raising the question: Will the sacrifices be worthwhile?

“Court of Claws” by Briar Boleyn is the second book in the Blood of a Fae series. This book was just as amazing as the first. I adore Morgan and Draven’s complicated relationship and other characters like Beks. The world is so full and well written that I cannot get enough of the series. 5 out of 5 stars, absolutely perfect.

This was hard to rate because the world building, politics and action scenes were first-class. The author does an excellent job of making you feel like you're in the gallery with Morgan, watching all of the trials.

The downfall to all of this is Morgan herself. It was incredibly irritating how much of her POV is complaining about Draven and fighting their relationship. She's bizarrely immature about it all and it made me want to stop reading a few times. The action scenes and other characters kept bringing me back, though.

The spice is okay? I mean, it happens and it's descriptive, but it doesn't seem like anything either of them would say, if that makes any sense. But if you're looking for it, it's there.

I am looking forward to the next book after that cliffhanger and epilogue, however.

It’s hard to even know where to start. This book was absolutely wonderful sequel! Our story picks up in a new realm, when Morgan awakens to memories of devastating truths, in a bed that is not even hers, and in an unknown land after Morgan almost lost her life thanks to the treachery of her now burnt to ash ex-boyfriend. Morgan must figure out how to move forward and defeat her enemies... All with the help of her "kidnapper" Kairos Draven. The same person who is now out as a Siabra Prince and whisked Morgan away to his kingdom to save her life.

There were many plot twists that made it really hard for me to put it down. As a second book in a series, this was extremely well (I’m always wary of second books)! There are new character additions, lots of banter (my favorite!), a fight to the death competition (also a favorite trope of mine), and lastly it ends with a huge cliffhanger that will make you automatically preorder the next book! It’s easy how this book was right up my alley.

Having just finished the book moments ago, first thoughts are that I need book 3 pronto. Boleyn does a great job writing an action packed stories that end with you on the edge of your seat…I mean the cliffhangers. The world building was great, the descriptions helped make visualizing this story rather easy—especially because it’s a fae fantasy story containing places and species unique to this universe. The characters are diverse and easy to like. I’m obsessed with Draven and am absolutely gutted every time Morgan thinks he’s lying/faking/being disingenuous. The plot twists are fun and the series has been fun to read too.

Overall I would rate this book a 4.5/5 (rounded up to 5/5). I would recommend this to romantasy fans.

Thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for this ARC.
