The story was interesting and I would have loved to finish to find out how her father disappeared ... but I couldn't get past all of the overlooked common sense situations. Not stopping for gas on a 10 hr drive, in a car that hadn't been driven in years. How you walked inside a house that had been abandoned for 20 years with no issue. Then checking for lights, water, and heat in that house that had been abandoned for 20 years ! Then having someone de-winterize that home, with the expectations of staying the weekend ..... That's when I gave up, this is supposed to be a 35 year old businesses woman and I just couldn't look past all of that.

Dat lijkt me zowat onmogelijk.

Dnf @ 10%, I started listening to the audio and the narrator is British. And not a light accent a full on accent so I assumed it took place in the Uk. That was until she said she was driving from Ny to ME. What a totally bizarre decision to have a British narrator for this book.

Also, having a car not need a jump after sitting unused for years and then driving 8 hrs without stopping at a gas station is wildly unbelievable.

Did not finish. Was 20% in, do around chapter 4.
Main character is very unlikable. I did not expect much, just a light typical romance novel in a small town. However, the story felt so dragged and unreasonable. For example: never cared for her father's home in 20 years. Then, without any plan she just left and is very rude to people who actually want to help. I understand if you are cautious but this was way different. Only to have finally arrived and she is shocked to find the place not clean, without heat or electricity (did you pay the bills or have someone take care for it fool?!) Also no food or bed. If you wanted the comfort than perhaps you should have accepted the offer to stay at a b&b. Then she is surprised to find someone actually uses the house?! Girl you are damn lucky he did not clame it. At least here in EU there is a law about abandonned homes. Let's go back a little, her friend Amy supports her and wants to help and she freakn abuses her. Emily does not deserve such a friend.
Finally her car which magically still worked until she almost arrived at her father's home. She was oh so hungry. Seriously, 8h drive and you never had to fill up the tank? And those stations never offered food? Wooow.

Anyways. I stopped and will never start again.

I enjoyed this. It’s pure fluff but the story and characters are interesting enough that I’m inclined to read the next book in the series. Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from serious and just relax into a book like this.

Eerst, Ik heb Emily echt vervelend gewonden.

As I read the book ik Dutch, the first ever book that I actually started and finished in Dutch, here is my attempted review in Dutch. I found it a relatively easy read and the only reason why it took me so long to finish was my own laziness to push through the language barrier. Reading it in Dutch was the purpose to begin with, but I'm rather bad at forbearance. I did enjoy the overall story and enjoyed the character growth in Emily.

Now and Forever
Sophie Love

When I was starting this book I thought it would be the usual where girl leaves boy that won’t commit and a job she hates. Goes to Maine meets new guy falls in love happily ever after the end. But I was surprised that even though she does leave the boy that won’t commit and the job she hates it is about finding herself more than actually finding another man. Yes there is a small touch of romance between Emily and Daniel but the stories main focus about Emily becoming the person she wants to be. Emily completely cuts off her life in New York and runs to her father’s old run down house. The books shows the growth of a woman who has been just going through the motions in a life that she did not really want to her to being well rounded, caring, and a better version of herself. The author made me feel like the house and Emily are connected, both need to be fixed and you see that as the house improves Emily herself improves.
Will say that I half read half listened to the book depending on what was going on at that time. I did not really like the audio book. I felt like the audiobook did not do the book a favor. I felt like in scenes where there was a dream, a memory, or a random town hall meeting the reader walked into empty bathroom and read to give herself an echo effect.
Overall I give the book a Thumbs up! I LOVED it and will be looking into more of Sophie Love’s books.
