mediocre

I don’t know. I find it hard when books move to a next generation to not still think of them as kids.
And the fact Erik & Luke played together made Erik seem A LOT older than he was.
I don’t know. Something just felt kind of off.

These books are trash. Each one, from the Washington Wolves series to the Ward sisters series, to this new spin-off series, is basically the same story, same characters, with slight differences. It's truly amazing how "successful" this author is from basically writing the same book 15 times over.

The best analogy for this I can think of... it's like watching a terribly wonderful reality show.

With every family member and friend introduced, you can see how the future books are going to go. Having that said, did I enjoy every minute? Yes. Will I read every other book in the series? Of course.

i LOVE grumpy-sunshine trope especially if the grumpy one isn't mean but actually a depressed little boy

This was a really good read! This is the first book I’ve read of Sorensen’s and while it isn’t your typical sports romance it is enjoyable nevertheless. This is a grumpy/sunshine, ex-football player turned bodyguard, fake relationship, age-gap romance.

I loved the dimension to Lydia’s character, how she wasn’t the typical social media celebrity that one would perceive and there was actual substance to her character. Erik on the other hand had a bit of mystery surrounding his past, but when it came to Lydia he was mush. I absolutely loved the two of them together. Their chemistry, banter, the steamy scenes, and the circumstances surrounding their relationship were amazing and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop as this was a bit of a slow-burn. I did feel however, that the romance got lost in the book with everything else happening.

All in all, this was a great read and I look forward to reading more by Karla Sorensen.

So I didn't hate this book, but I didn't love it either. At times Lydia and Eric were sweet, but I didn't connect with them. But I'm interested in rest of this series.

“I’d never recover from her.”

3.5 stars.

Going into this, I was excited albeit a little weary because the first installement left me a little bit... not as happy as I expected to say the least, however, I can safely say that I definitely enjoyed this one more than The Lie.

What did I like most you ask? Lydia. Which honestly comes as no surprise to me since I liked her most in the first book as well. She was so easy to love, she is so down to earth, sassy, funny, ambitious and a very hardworker. She does not hesitate to stand up for people she loves and will do anything for them.

Another thing I enjoyed quite a lot, and it is something I can for sure say is Sorensen's number one strength, is the family dynamic. I loved seeing the Piersons' dynamic and how supportive and loving they are with each other, I loved seeing how protective Luke was of his daughter without ever crossing the boudary into controlling; it was never in doubt that all he cared about was her happiness and safety. Same goes for Lydia and Faith's sisterhood.

Now onto the romance; as much as I enjoyed this one a lot more and as much as I loved these two together, I did feel like the pacing was a bit weird and had some "insta love" feel to it. I feel like Lydia fell too fast, especially with how little Luke showed of himself, which is another thing that annoyed me a bit, even with his POV, it was just hard to FEEL that he had any feelings for Lydia, mostly because he spent 90% of it trying to NOT feel anything and making it more about attraction than anything else. I can't even say for sure this was a slow burn as it didn't feel like it to me. It just felt like a one-sided insta love until almost the very end where it all went from 0 to 100 on Erik's side, and I feel like little effort was done on his side and that most of the fight for the relationship came from Lydia... it would've made up for it if he grovelled a bit but as it is, Lydia again forgave him way too fast for my taste.

However, I still say that this was a solid second book in this series and I'm excited for the other second gen's book, especially Emmett's (and... Adaline?).. I do love and miss my Wards!

Lydia and Erik gave Faith and Dominic a run for their money because this book was a heck of an enjoyable read and I seriously liked all the tension between this new couple. Lydia may have been young compared to Erik, but she also had a good head on her shoulders and pretty much knew what direction she wanted her life to go in. I wouldn't really consider Erik a bodyguard; he was more of a companion, someone that Lydia's parents could entrust their daughter to and ensure that she was safe and secure while making inroads to move forward. Erik was also someone who had his complexities, but that simply made him even more interesting. I loved how he was with Lydia. Another thing I loved? Catching up with Luke and Allie as well as Faith and Dom. I adore this book world! The Plan garners 4.5 stars.
