DNF at 13%.

Oh my gawd, I can't do it. I just simply cannot do it. The book is purposefully jagged, disjointed AND jumbled, snarky, and a general pain in the ass to read. I'm punished for my interest in it. Maybe with a different writer, I could deal with it, but this is beyond painful. No thanks!

I found this book boring tbh. I understand the message is feminism and for it be wrote in 1975 by a female author is impressive I'll give it that.

However, the book does not have a plot or understandable story line. It's chaotic and confusing constantly jumping back and forth with no warning. You often find yourself reading chapters unsure about which character pov it's from. The dialogue is widely outdated and hard to follow. I honestly struggled so much through this book. Alot of the book content just feels like ranting with no direction or point to it.

The characters aren't enjoyable at all. Jeanine is annoying, Janet is a creep, and the other two don't even make sense. They are all uninteresting with no personality constantly repeating internal dialogue and no development.

I really tried to finish this to see if it got any better but I just can't do it. I skipped to the end to see if it at least had a good ending and it doesn't.

I really wish I could like it, I tried my best, but I didn't. Some funny punchlines, though.

"I don't think my body would sell anything. I don't think I would be good to look at."

This is probably a very good book. There were parts that really stood out to me, and I underlined a lot of really interesting quotes. While I understand that the narrative is deliberately structured in a way that is super fragmented, it was not my cup of tea. I rate books on Goodreads largely based on my emotional connection to the story, and I just couldn't fully visualise the characters or comprehend the plot.

So powerful, especially considering the time it was written in.

The prose, while kind of interestingly written sometimes, could be hard to follow. It wasn't always clear who the viewpoint character was. Ultimately it was just kind of boring. Not much of consequence happens with anyone. This is the first time in a very long time that I DNFd a book. But reading it felt like a chore. So I'm moving on.

I'm frustrated enough by the unclear perspectives that I keep avoiding picking it up.
