Consistently a 4.5 stars throughout, but the ending had my jaw on the floor. I don’t know how I didn’t see it coming, but I didn’t which means it had to be given 5 stars!!

There's some plot armor on a couple characters but i still felt like i needed to know more. I was surprised by every new development. I felt like the writing sometimes got repetitive but it was never a real issue. I think everything made sense and it left me on the edge of my seat.

In this book Emily and Adam form a relationship and the pace is fast. They are happy, in love and everything is perfect... or at least it would be if it wasn't for the other woman in his life - his mother. She is vile to Emily but as far as Adam is concerned his mum can do no wrong. Pamela, Adam's mother, is determined to come between them but only Emily sees this side of her.
There were so many things I hated about this book. Emily is a doormat, Adam is vile and she just keeps making excuses for his behaviour... but it was a really compelling read and I couldn't put it down! I felt the whole story was just so unlikely but I felt mostly satisfied with the ending.

Trigger Warnings: Gaslighting, Domestic Abuse, Cheating, Death of Family Members

This was a very fast-paced and engaging read. I think the first half was a bit more exciting than the second half cause you really see where it is going. But with that being said the story is surprising at moments and I will say that the end did take me off guard. I was convinced it was going to play out in a certain way and it did not.

The characters were fleshed out pretty well and even the side characters were standing out to me. They did not fall into typical categories and stereotypes, they also stood by our main character and never made her out to be crazy or feel isolated and I thought that was so refreshing. With that being said my biggest problem was our MC Emily. She was a bit frustrating to read at times but I did empathize with her and could get where she was coming from.
