Good fun historical romance. Found I wanted a bit more action going on but overall the characters were interesting and kept me entertained.

I liked that the "pirate" was an honorable one. He had a dark past, but tried to fix it by freeing American slaves who were forced to work on ships. He never raped Serenity, which seems to common among historical pirate romance novels. That was refreshing. There were a few scenes that made me blush quite a bit, but I'm rather an innocent mind. I am a sucker for pirate romances, though, and this one was enjoyable. I finished it in a day.

Started out ok, but got worse. Not a fan of this overly simplistic style. The characters are very confused about lust vs love and I'm also not sure why the women formulated such a dumb plan to try and trick Morgan into marrying Serenity. Overall not my favorite.

Loved this book, and that he has 3 names, his real one, and his sea nicknames, the Sea Dog, and his pirate one, and his reaction to their son, and the friend she makes, just loved this book!!!

God what a romantic story!

Honestly, while I love any and all Sherri novels, some are stronger than others in the emotional story. A Pirate of Her Own contains the story of Morgan Drake and Serenity James, with the subplot that forces the two together being one surrounded by Serenity's published article about The Sea Wolf- who is Morgan and his activities around freeing impressed Americans from the British.

Angered over being outed, and fearing for her safety at the hands on his enemies, Morgan's friend Jake abducts Serenity and places her on Morgan's ship. Stuck with him on his voyage to Santa Maria, the two's "falling-in-love" story is so entertaining. Serenity is headstrong and stubborn, a woman uncommon in her own time and a romantic dreamer to boot. Morgan is a man of the world, having a dramatic emotional past, and is as stubborn as Serenity.

While the actual subplot is practically nonexistent, being bypassed quickly in the plot, the emotional story between Morgan and Serenity is so heartwarming, with tons of laughs and endearing character scenes. Typical though it is, Sherri's outdone herself once again!

Another 5-stars!!!
