I was annoyed by the overuse of the phrase “the other woman” It wasn’t in an affair way but rather literally the other woman in a duo. I also didn’t find myself completely engrossed like I am with some romance novels. I think it’s because I found it to be a little slow moving at times. I think partly because of the repetitive language.
Overall, a cute, quick read. Honestly, bumping up the star rating because it’s a queer romance. I feel like representation matters, and it doesn’t have to be the deepest book ever written.

I enjoyed the romance a lot and the friendship dynamics. However, sometimes, for a bunch of 30-year-olds they could be a bit unfiltered ( *cough* Iris *cough* ).
As someone who went through some bullying, I couldn't love the indifference and mean comments they had for Delilah growing up and be all good with the present. I would have preferred if this wasn't a friend's sister trope and if Delilah was just the school misfit.
I love every bit of Claire's scenes with Ruby and how she thinks of her daughter and her love live.
It's spicy, but not heavy in quantity or kinkiness.
The ending was fulfilling and very romantic which got me happy.

The characters were developed nicely, their different problems were well written and are definitely relatable to some readers who have experienced the same things.
I like the fact this series is about women who are in their late twenties, it's a refreshing twist for the romance genre since some of the characters in this series talk about how they still don't know what they're doing with their lives sometimes.
Some problems with this book was the writing for the sex scenes weren't good at all. It does get better with the later books! But this one, made me cringe so much. I'm sorry, who uses "mound" and thinks that's sexy?! And I hate the trope "it was a bet". To start off a romance like that feels very lazy and cheapens the relationship.
Also there was a lack of diversity in this book. Sure there was a lot of good rep for the lgbtq community, but there was nothing else. One very minor black character and that's it. As someone who has now read the books, this does get better, but not by a lot.
Overall this was a good sapphic romance. All of the characters weren't one-dimensional, they all had some depth, the romance was very sweet and it's a good start to the already completed series.
