I personally loved it. I'm up to date with the television series and they are on a season break right now and this book was a perfect way to fit PLL into my day. This is a guilty pleasure of mine, but it was great.

Listen, I went into this having already seen the series so obviously I knew what was going to happen. That being said I thought that there would be some differences in the book that would make it worthwhile however I found it to be exactly like the show. It was still good and I enjoyed it but definitely wouldn’t recommend it if you’ve seen the show as it’s pretty much just copy paste :).

Meh, too much name-dropping. Too many labels. Too many high school stereotypes. I probably wouldn't have even liked it IN high school.

I’ve been binging the show for the first time, so I wanted to see what the differences were in the book, despite having read all the details on Wikipedia. But just like the first few seasons of the show aren’t for me (hard to relate to petty high school drama when you’re 10+ years out of high school), this book version of the characters and drama definitely isn’t for me either. Plus the real differences seem like they won’t come in till significantly later? Not worth continuing the book series for me, I’ll stick to reading the wiki pages instead.

Also, it’s hard enough to get past it in the show, but why is everything so sexualized with these teenage girls who are, ya know, UNDERAGE? And I don’t mean by boys their own age. I mean by every single creep who is over 20 and preying on these girls. Does no one care that this is literally illegal????

Pretty Little Liars

The whole mystery thing is actually not that...bad? But the characters?... That's a different matter.
If it hadn't been for the not-that-bad mystery that started to appear in the last chapters, this would have one star.
They are all just spoiled rich kids. Maybe Emily can be saved, and Hanna is on thin ice, but the others are just one hundred percent horrible, and don't get me started on the 'parents'.

Am I reading the whole series? Of course.

So I've wanted to read this for years, back when I lived out of home with a high school friend she read it, and was meant to let me borrow it after her. However she was the slowest reader on the planet and we finished school before I got a chance to read it.

Anyway, I finally, after watching the latest episode on the tv went, 'oh I wanted to read those' I knew the books were quite small, and so I knew whether good or bad I wouldn't be stuck reading it for days, one or two at the most. I knew that because I liked the show, I would clearly like where the story went. It only took me a few hours. Thankfully, I like books and their portrayed to tv show or film versions to be different. I mean, why watch or read something I've already experienced? I know other readers complain when they add things or remove characters and scenes, but seriously? How boring. I want a fresh look if it's adapted to film. I want new characters I've never seen, I don't mind if they look different to what they had, or they've knocked off characters who have one damn line!

Anyway. My only problem was, as I've seen the show, I kept seeing those characters, and not the pretty blonde ones in the book. But that's not on the book so I'm not degrading it for that! really great for preteens, maybe even just early teens as there's a little language, but we all know they swear and do the dirty these days anyway! Happy reading everyone!

I started watching the TV show and really liked it so I thought, "Hey, why not read the books?". So I started reading this one online and got to page 218 and stopped, unfortunatly I lost interest. But who knows, maybe I'll finish it one day and maybe I won't. I don't think I'll read the others considering I already know how it all ends.

Ehhh, I prefer the show. The characters are more likable and I prefer to do without the constant reference to brand names. Decent brain candy, but I probably won't read any more.
