*This e-arc was given to me by the author to give an honest review in return*

{This book is given 3.5 stars}
This was a wonderfully written book. It's about a human orphan named Faythe who is good with a sword and has to keep her head down around the faes. One day she accidentally gets into a Nightwalker's mind and realizes she is capable of much more but doesn't know who to trust anymore. This was a well-written book with great world-building, writing, characters, and pretty much everything. This book hooked me from the first chapter and I loved how the world building was introduced before so you know what you were getting into. The pacing was fast which I enjoyed for this book and there were many action-packed scenes. The one problem that I had was that there were some random POVS of Nik, the Nightwalker, in the book that I think shouldn't be there since the book is in Faythe's POV. So I was a little confused with that because it ruined the plot twist towards the end. Other than that I had no problems with the writing.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. The main character was Faythe who reminds me of Aelin from Throne of Glass. I love how she is brave and cares so much for her friends. She does everything she can to make sure that nothing happens to them and I love that about her. She has great character development throughout the book which I enjoyed. I also enjoyed Nik and instantly fell in love with him. He reminded me of Rowan from Throne of Glass. My favorite scenes with them would be when they practiced together and I also have to say that the romance was amazing in this book. There is also an antagonist in this book though they aren't much involved as this book is mostly a man vs. society scenerio.

This book was great but I did have another problem with it which is why it brought a star down. It promised for fans of ACOTAR but I didn't see much of ACOTAR but more of Throne of Glass in this book. I was looking for that hint of ACOTAR throughout the book but couldn't find anything so I was disappointed with that. Other than that this book was greatly written and I recommend it to those who enjoy Red Queen and Throne of Glass.

i’m actually so surprised i loved this book as much as i did, i figured it would be an enjoyable fantasy but i got SO invested. The premise of the book is something i haven’t really seen before in the sense that the magic and relationships were so refreshing. This book surprised me with a bunch of turns and i loved all the anxiety the characters went through as well as the intense interpersonal relations.
Highly recommend for anyone who likes fantasy and strong heroines and sword fighting and mystery and intrigue lol

Reread Review:
Loved it even more the second time! I’d planned on rereading this before I got the ARC for its sequel, but I was so excited I could not wait to dive in. There’s so much foreshadowing and little things I missed the first time reading this. Things I’m honestly surprised I missed the first time!! Rereading this book was a real treat and I’m even more excited now to dive back into its sequel again.

Initial Review:
Goodness, where do I begin?? My mind is still reeling from that ending! I will start by giving thanks to the author for gifting me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story was unlike any other fae series I’ve ever read and I’m thankful for the originality of its premises there. Sometimes these types of stories tend to blend together, but An Heir Comes to Rise stands on its own without me having to make any comparisons to other fae books. Although there were some parts that give me major King Arthur vibes. Whether that was intentional or not it’s what I took from it.

This story gives you a strong female lead character, a forbidden romance and that’s utterly swoon worthy, beautiful friendships with both male and female characters alike, and beautiful writing that pulls you in to this magical world and leaves you not wanting to leave! When you do you’re left suffering a massive hangover. XD

I’m so excited to see where the story goes from here. That ending will surely keep my brain going till I have the sequel in my hands.

300 pages in and the book was like a dairy entry.

If it wasn’t for the cliffhanger in the end I would have definitely forget this series ever existed

I wanted to read a fantasy romance and this book gave me everything I needed!

From the first page this story had me intrigued! It doesn't take long to get into the book and into the world where this story is located. Everything about this book is just amazing! You got some romantic tension, some action and some amazing plottwists!

It reminded me a bit of throne of glass and the prison healer. I loved both of these books! I can't wait to see where the story goes in the rest of this series!

DNF at 40%, skimmed through the rest of the book.
Slight spoilers but only for the start and not any plot points.

—————————

I couldn’t care less about the main characters. Faythe is bland and makes dumb decisions. Nik is there I guess.

There was interesting world building but there wasn’t any follow up. A mythical stag leads you to an ancient temple in the middle of the haunted forest? Awesome tell me more. But no, she ignores it and goes back to training and doesn’t think about it again. The rest of the plot is just her daily life. Give me the cool mythical stuff! Why introduce it and then not use it?

I just stopped reading when Faythe made the decision to be in illegal fighting rings where people and Fae would bet on her, after she was told specifically NOT to stand out. She has magical mind powers and recognisable eyes and sword. Why would it be a good idea to draw more attention to yourself by fighting in the rings? She doesn’t even do it for a specific reason, like needing the money. She just decides to fight. Huh???

I read some other reviews on this and the next books and I didn’t feel like continuing this series. Too bad because it’s been on my tbr for a while and I was looking forward to it.

World building was interesting but should have been explored more, that might have saved the book a bit. But honestly Faythe and Nik were just meh. I liked Marlowe and Jakon but that was it. I liked that it was the start of a found family though, no unnecessary drama and that made me very happy.

Disappointed. I don’t recommend this book and will not continue this series.
