I thought that the idea for the plot was interesting. This isn’t my first book from this author but it’s sadly my least favourite. I’m not a fan of insta-love even though I liked their banter from the very start. They seemed more like good friends to me while Tarron, a random character introduced after the second half, seemed to have more chemistry with Robin, oddly enough. I feel like some things weren’t concluded, and even though we’ll probably get answers in the next volumes I feel like we would’ve needed a bit more closure on this part of the story before going to the next. There was a plot twist that really got me, which I always enjoy. I love that queerness wasn’t frowned upon too, even having a king and his husband mentioned. I found it odd that Robin didn’t like taking precautions to protect himself, I suppose being the main character gives you a pass from being one of the characters that die, since there are two more books to this series. I enjoyed the ending, although a bit rushed it gave us a good idea as to what we can expect to see in the next part. Will I be reading said part? We’ll see.

I had fun reading but highly forgettable. It's an interesting premise but the writing kinda ruined some parts of it. I honestly could not remember anything that happened in this book.

DNF at 50%. This book was bad. Pretty Bad. Most of my gripes with it are technical and stylistic ones, but the content itself wasn't much either.

First of all, the writing. God, it's awful. The prose tries to be elaborate and flowery but falls short, filled with repitition, tautologies and flawed grammar. The dialogue is stiff and inconsistent; one moment the characters attempt to speak like they belong a Shakespearean play, only to revert to the vocabulary of high schoolers the next. It's rather jarring.

The plot is rushed and generic with unimaginative worldbuilding, and the characters have no development or depth whatsoever.

I wanted to like this book, I really did; I'm yearning for a good mlm fantasy, but A Betrayal of Storms definitely isn't it.
