There are a number of twists in the story, and I don't want to spoil the reading experience of those who, like me, are only coming across this book now. I will say, though, that the story is as much about family as it is about Blythe's journey of self-discovery and love. There's a mystery within the Flanigan family that calls to Blythe and she quickly realizes that she wants to find out the answers to the questions that have been lingering for three years as much for herself and her own peace of mind as for the family and the bring back a sense of peace among the family members. The mystery had me going in a couple of different directions before the revelation as to who was behind it came about and I was actually quite stunned. Looking back, though, the clues were there and I was just too caught up in everything that Blythe was seeing and experiencing to really take note of them all and who they were pointing to. How it played out brought a bit of suspense thriller into the story, adding a hint of anticipation as to what would now unfold.

This is one of those stories that sneaks up on you, catching you off-guard with its quiet and simple intensity. The characters are far from perfect but they are very human and not at all difficult to empathize with. Blythe's life is in flux for the first time in years and you see her trying to get her footing time and again. You want her to find happiness and to be able to live the rest of her life with the kind of love that she had at the her fingertips but let go of thirteen years ago. I believe everyone is blessed with free will, allowing them to make decisions and choices that will set them on various paths and there's never a guarantee that those paths will be straight and free of obstacles. If anything, you can be sure that those paths will be winding and will have you stumbling every now and again. But you can always change the path you're on and change the direction of your journey, just like Blythe Heywood did in a small town called Peregrine in Idaho. Blue Midnight is a highly recommended 2015 favorite and gets five-plus stars. ♥

This is the 6th or 7th book of Tess's that I've read and I think it is the best one to date. Blythe is a mid- 40's divorced mum who comes to the realisation she choose the wrong path years back. In an attempt to perhaps answer what ifs, she finds herself trying to find the other path she gave up 13 years back. Along the way she makes new friends, finds herself again, rediscovers her mojo and basically helps to chase old ghosts away and re-unite a family ripped apart by lies and suspicions. Beautiful reading.

Ahhh! Tess Thompson! Always a delight!

This romance is no different. Although, Tess is really great about putting stuff in a book that makes me feel like I'm reading a self help! I had to highlight a few things so I can go back to them later. A lot of this book was about trust and how deep it really is to trust someone after you have been hurt. With this really strong storyline the characters had to keep up, and I feel that they did a pretty good job.

I love Blythe. I also love Bliss but sadly Bliss is only in this just a little bit. I'm hoping another book will be on her! But back to Blue Midnight and Blythe. She's been through the wringer and yet somehow she manages to pick herself up and go on a road trip. I love it. That somehow was pretty much her sister pushing her to do it. (Yet one of the many reasons I loved Bliss).

The plot line is actually very interesting but there is much more here than just Blythe getting over her ex-husband. And really it isn't HIM she needs to get over, it's her feeling of inadequacy. If I'm being completely honest here I was hoping for something really bad to happen to her ex. Maybe I'm just being a jerk but I just didn't like what or how he did things to Blythe. I was hoping Moonstone (that's the actual name of another cute character) would do something mean to him but alas Blythe is a really good person.

SO! In comes the really interesting part. The love! I cannot go into too much detail sadly because this would be a massive spoiler, but what I can tell you is that I liked the relationship. They did fall into love instantly which got to me a bit. Sometimes I can almost feel the sparks jumping out of the book but in this case, as much as I want them to be together, I also wanted them to freaking take a step back and breathe for a minute!!

But they don't because this is a romance.

Okay, fine. But they do make a cute couple and by the end I had tears freaking strolling down my face AGAIN! Tess does this to me every single time. She is just THAT good at romance.

In short: Once again I loved Tess Thompson's beautiful writing. The wit and strength of her characters is amazing. I always end her books wanting to read more. It's like magic!

I have quickly fallen in love with the Blue Mountain series by Tess Thompson. I am loving reading romances about couples who are in their mid-thirties to mid-forties. This later in life romance gives me hope that there is still time.

I first met Kevan and Blythe when I listened to the audiobook of Blue Moon, which is book two in the series. Obviously I didn't pay enough attention to realize it was part of a series. Thankfully they are complete standalones.

I absolutely loved their story. Both of them finding a second chance at love and happiness. Finding the truth about what happened to Kevan's brother, Finn, and his first wife. I enjoyed that this book had so many little quirks. There was the bit of mystery, a hint of paranormal, and a sweet romance. One of my favorite things about this book was how it was honest about the changes that happen to a woman's body as she ages, after having children, and after nursing those children. It was honest in how a woman feels about herself with those body changes. Then it gave us a man who truly appreciates those changes and thinks she is beautiful because of those changes.

When I get a book like this one I can get lost for a few days. The stories that take you to other places. Make you feel things, sadness, happiness, joy, fear, intrigue. This one has it all.

I’ve enjoyed several of Tess Thompson’s books and each is great. This one is no exception. It will pull at your heart and your mind. It’s got some magic. Some edge of your seat. And the love... Oh that is always the best part.

After Blythe’s husband decides he wants something new she has to accept the fact that her marriage is over. Blythe did not expect for her life to chance this late in the game but some things can be a blessing. When Michael leaves her for another, younger woman, Blythe and their two little girls move from their home. They have place to go and will be ok. But Blythe is lonely and with her girls going away for their dads marriage she needs a change. Her sister talks her into going to Idaho and looking up the only man who ever made her weak in the knees. She has to go in search of her destiny, don’t ya think. I sure do and am glad she did....

Now if you want to find out anymore all I can say is you have to read this book. It’s great. It has so much going on and keeps you wanting more. It has so much love. So much happiness. And even a bit of a mystery. I didn’t get the mystery part right so that was good. It’s one you will not want to put down. Great characters, great setting, great scenery, beautiful mountains, soothing lakes, great love.

I gave it a bit 5 stars but it would be way more if possible. One you will truly love.
