This story came out of the gates with a bang and raced away from the competition.

Griffin and Nadia are two individuals who both have traumatic backstories, and they were able to come together with hard work together AND apart. I loved seeing the character development and growth they both went through because I felt like I could see their bond growing.

I loved this story. Every element of this story was awesome; the setting, the characters, the sexy times, and the notes. I hate that this is the end of Gold Rush, but I cannot wait to see the next series as they are distantly connected.

I don't know how to feel. I was really not sure how I felt about a fourteen year age difference. I mean, the ten years between Cole and Violet wasn't that bad cause she was older than 21, at least. But it felt so weird for Nadia to be 19 and Griffin to be 33 when they first met. Just kinda icky.

That being said, this is probably ranked second for me out of the series. I really appreciated the growth that these characters did on their own. I liked that they spent so much time apart, learning how to be whole on their own.

Nadia is snarky and sunny and spunky. She made me bust out laughing multiple times. I am still so enthralled by these female main characters.

Griffin is also ranked second for me in terms of male main characters. He was just so tortured and miserable. I loved it.

As a whole, this series felt like it was written by a completely different author than the Chesnut Springs Series. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Just really felt different.

Ten out of ten, would read again. Not any time soon. But someday.

This book had a lot of layers to get through. Nadia was an open book with Griffin. She was very open about her past with him. Griffin was very closed off and tight-lipped about his past. But the two of them worked. You really forget about the age gap until the author decides to mention it, which in my opinion, was WAY TO MUCH! I hate being reminded that there is an age difference. Because when you just read it as Nadia and Grif, you forget it exists.

It's not hard to see that Nadia and Griffin really do belong together. The chemistry is off the charts between these two. It was almost painful on how long they held off on it, lol. But once they get together, it's explosive.

I loved Griffin's parents. When Nadia was first introduced to them, I couldn't stop smiling. She just jumped right in and his parents were great.

Such a great way to end the series. Can't wait to jump into Chestnut Springs!

One thing is guaranteed whenever I pick an Elsie Silver romance....she will make me smile and swoon and then make me fall in love with every character instantly. The final book in the Gold Rush Ranch series is another shining example. Griffin is an amazing hero with his grumpy yet swoonworthy alpha protective personality and Nadia made my heart break for her. Their delicious push and pull, flirty and yet heartaching story is full of all the feels and steamy perfection.

We get the anticipated humour and smoking chemistry but this one has an extra depth of heart. Nadia and Griffin both have difficult pasts that influence their values and ideas about relationships, and their working through and overcoming those challenges is beautifully poignant. The pair made every heartstring tingle. Every emotion the character experiences hits you right in the gut, and there were times when I just wanted to hug them. Despite their varying upbringings, it seemed as if the moment they met, their souls recognised the pain within. As a result, they became one another's solace in the midst of life's chaos.

This crafty storyteller has outdone herself with A False Start, reminding us that it’s valid to feel the fear but then move beyond it with determination, faith and hope. With the perfect mix of humour, heat, and heart, this beautifully poignant, touching story left my romantic heart immensely satisfied while still wanting more of these endearing characters.
