The authors also have a podcast called Missing Witches.

Biographies, invocations, and spells. Histories patriarchy has tried to erase.

I didn't read this book in order. For instance, one of the first chapters I read was the Samhain chapter, which I read around Samhain 2023. I just read the Mabon chapter, & Mabon is this month. It took me nearly a year to read the book, since I'd read a chapter and set it aside.

I love when books are rich and informative on their own /but also/ are a jumping off point, providing tons of other sources to pursue. Some reviews mention the conversational writing style as a negative but listening to this in audiobook form, I blew right through it. Will definitely be buying a physical copy to annotate and reference!

I absolutely loved this book. Reading this I began to understand why my mom is constantly reading self-help books. While those are still not my thing this book told me I was strong and laid out ways I can improve.

I loved the grounded approach to these subjects. The rituals throughout were accessible. Learning stories of lives flaws and all was refreshing.

This is but the beginning of me reading about witches and the various practices that unite.

Book Summary
A book about the wheel of the year and the different rituals associated with different times of the year. Famous witches who have been lost to history are incorporated into the pages as well.

Book Review
The witches covered are similar to the ones from the start of the podcast. Which is cool to come at it from both angles. I can see why I’d want to get a copy of this to reference long term.

How I Discovered It
I’ve known about the podcast, but finally started listening to it because of Moonbeaming. They were guests on the show.

Who Should Read It
Anyone interested in feminism and witchcraft.

Thoughts & Impressions
I really enjoyed the way it’s laid out and organized. I also love the stories told. I also like their approach to being respectful of everyone.

What I Liked About It
All the stories were delightful. I love learning about powerful women in history.

What I Didn’t Like About It
I think this is just personal to my experience, I would have preferred if it started on Samhain because that’s the first holiday I was going to experience while reading it.

How the Book Changed Me
I have a deeper understanding of the holidays and the traditions associated with them. It makes me want to put in more of an effort to celebrate the holidays, even if it’s just for myself.

I read this with the changing of the seasons, letting the wheel guide my progress and insight.

Starting with Yule and ending with Samhain.

Some chapters were harder than others to match to the actual sabbaths (since climate change has pushed the seasons here in Texas to either be to too early or too late). I found solace in this book and the witches within it. I found companionship and answers and questions a plenty. And I hope there will be a sequel of some sort in the future.
