I was feeling alien romance when I decided to read and though I have dozens I bought this less than a week ago and since I had time went for it. I am so glad I did. I loved it. My heart poured out to the characters who had troubled pasts and could relate to one another on a deeper level than most. They shared a similar pain and thus could truly come to love, understand and respect one another. I also love that despite the "knowing/claiming" ect that they didnt just become mates and live HEA. they took time to get to know each other and overcome some very harsh realities before finally settling into a life together. I cannot wait to read the next one.

I didn't like her. I just couldn't understand why she didn't want to even talk to him at all. She had no excuse, not with the "Knowing". And she assumes a lot without even talking to him, and I hate that. And she continued doing that all the way. The last chapter ends in her not talking to him but talking to her friends about something that concerned him and her, not the friends. So no growth whatsoever for her. He does show some improvement, and I liked him. Just didn't like her.

I enjoyed the mix of romance and angst in this story. The hero does not believe he will ever find or deserve love and then he is struck by the knowing and his life is forever changed. He has to overcome prejudice and hate from within his own people, and he has to convince himself and Melissa that this will work. Melissa is battling her own demons and does not understand what is happening at first but soon realises the Jarek is an important part of her life. They battle through and reach a happy balance.

Jarek is book one in the Dragons of Preor series. It’s hot, sweet, passionate, and emotional.

I did notice that the Dragons of Preor appears to be a spin-off from the Ujal series, which I have not read yet, but that didn’t take away from the story. It can be read as a standalone, but we do have references to events in the Ujal series and a number of characters from that series cross over.

This series has an interesting world, concept, and how one finds their mate. I like that the dragons while in man form have wings, but also can shapeshift into a full dragon.

Their is a little conflict that arises in the Preor race and with the human women. This adds to the emotions and build-up. I liked that Jarek and Melissa don’t hop into bed right away even with the Knowing. They take the time they need to get to know each other as individuals. Especially since they both carry guilt for something that they didn’t do, but feel it’s their burden to carry. Once they do jump into bed, it’s steamy and sensual.

The story was satisfying and the romance was well developed. I had a delightful time with this story and look forward to continue the series.

Is this the worst romance novel ever written? Probably not. But it's probably in the top ten of worst romance novels I've ever read and that has to count for something. Well done. You did it. Space dragons. Bravo.

Aliens!!

I'm never sure if I'll like a book about aliens, since the story line can go just about anywhere. But I'm convinced Ms Kyle will always have my best interest in mind when she dreams up her wonderfully crazy stories!!

3.5 stars. I found this better than the first three books I read in the Ujal series. I kinda wished I'd not been stingy and read book four in that as it clearly had more information that joined to this book, but I didn't really mind. Loved the dragons and the Knowing as they're mated before the touching and sex, and it doesn't effect emotion, just knowledge of their pasts. So lovely. That being said, I don't think I'm continuing because of all the many books I have yet to read.
