Lo cierto es que me ha gustado, aunque se me ha hecho algo largo en general, y eso le ha quitado una estrella a la puntuación.

Make sure you have nothing important to do for the next 24 hours or so because once you start this book, you won't be able to put it down until the last page.

In appearance, the story is pretty straightforward but then you delve into rich settings, graphic depiction of violence, twisted plots and original characters that jump out of the book and keep you company for a long while.

I've seen the Charlie Parker series among the recommended books in the genre but until now, I've somehow resisted them. Well, I'm now thoroughly hooked and look forward to reading the rest of the books in this gripping series.

Charlie Parker starts grimmy and gritty and so painfully that I thought I couldn't get behind the first chapter. But I kept going and the experience was worth every single pain inflicted. Yes, it's not pretty. Yes, it hurts your soul. But it also cleans it and it's so well written that you keep reading, your eyes glued to the story, your heart racing along Parker's.

The book was a slog at times. I think the series has promise. I look forward to reading the series. Hopefully it gets better.

I am not sure what rating to give this... but have settled for 4 stars. This is due to the fact that it’s really incredibly well written and the suspense just ratchets up notch by notch or well page by page. The niggley bit for me is that it should really have been two books rather than one... although am saying this now it’s reached its 20th edition and he’s written a few more lol. But really that’s all I have to say not against it as such just a niggle really. I do love the supernatural elements to it makes it more creepy and I don’t think it takes anything away from the rational mystery books I have read it just means you are seeing it from a twisted angle like seeing a shadow from the corner of your eye. Love it.

Connolly's introduction to Charlie Parker, Louis, and Angel. Breathtaking, tense, and beautiful, even in the midst of all of the murder and mayhem. Can't say enough about Connolly's writing style - it is glorious. The supernatural elements are pitch perfect and not overbearing. The arc of Charlie's story is amazing.

Charlie is one iconic hero.
