The characters are kind of flat, but the tropes are done well and make for a fast-paced enjoyable story.

The Inquisition continues the story after The Novice and it delivers everything I hoped for. The only thing missing is Harry Potter-esque boarding school setting.

Some would argue that there are much better ya fantasy novels with better characterisation and world-building. And yes you would be right. But as a mother of a small boy, Summoner is one of the series I think he will enjoy when he grows up because:
+ Main character is male
+ No 'yucky' romance
+ Dwarfs, elves, orcs (WOW fans will love it)
+ Awesome magic
+ Cute magical companions
+ A lot of adventures

The previous book, The Novice, ended on a cliffhanger, with Fletcher being arrested for attempted murder, just after winning the tournament at Vocans, and at the start of this novel, he is still locked in a dungeon awaiting trial for this offence.

Without giving away any spoilers, since the synopsis already makes it clear he gets out, Fletcher manages to gain his freedom, but the way this is handled is both well thought out and satisfying, which means it is not resolved within a few pages.

The remainder of the story revolves around a raid into Orc lands, which has several goals, needs to take place within a limited time frame and consists of a number of small teams of Summoners, not all of which are friendly towards Fletcher.

This section is well written with a good mixture of characters, both old and new, which allows for a taut, tense, action-rich adventure that also weaves in a thread of mystery and intrigue, and finishes on yet another cliffhanger, that will have you looking forward to book three.

This is an easy-to-read, fun, engaging, fast-paced adventure, that you need to read if you enjoyed the first book.

”Men nogle gange var det at gøre ingenting den største fare af dem alle.”

I really enjoyed reading The Inquisition, it was hard to stop reading lnce I had started reading the book. The plot is interesting and with a excitin plot development that kept me wanting to read more.
I like the new elements and locations that is added to the story, they are very well descriped.
The flow of the story is very smooth, with a good balance between action and calm scenes.

Compared to the first book, the progress of the second book is very very slow and it’s not much happening
