A riveting second installment of Zadoff's thrillers--"Daniel" is sent on another mission by The Program. Sent to take out the leader of a fringe camp that is said to be training to fight for their Second Amendment rights, he is shocked to learn that one of his own is a part of it all. Still fast-paced and exciting...an entertaining ride.

I obtained the first book in this series through GoodReads First Reads program and enjoyed it so much that I had to read the sequel. It, too, did not disappoint. The story moved quickly and was compelling. The main character Daniel/Zach shows cold-blooded calculation coupled with moments of almost tenderness. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series.

It has been a week since Boy Nobody finished his last mission and began questioning and challenging his orders. Father has located him and wants him to take over a “lost mission.” The previous operative has gone off the grid and is assumed dead. Boy Nobody is being sent into the field to finish the mission. His mission is to take out Eugene Moore who is the founder of an extremist military training camp. The catch … once inside, no signal can go in or out. Boy Nobody won’t know what The Program wants him to do and he must rely on his training. Unfortunately, those pesky questions from his last mission keep him second guessing what he should do.

I Am the Mission is the second book in the Unknown Assassin series. There is also an alternate title called The Lost Mission and I do not know why a new book is being published with two different titles, but after finishing this action packed adventure I don’t really care. Zadoff continues the espionage and intrigue that was started with the first book and enables readers to discover new depths about Boy Nobody and additional facts about his past and The Program’s underlying motives. Many times a second book can be a letdown compared to the first, yet this book is not an example of that trend. I Am the Mission is a roller coaster reading adventure that will be quickly consumed and the reader will definitely want more.

I first read Boy Nobody/I Am The Weapon back in 2015 and seriously enjoyed it but I didn't have the sequels on my hands- so you know how it gets, months pass before you get the next book and by then you're busy or reading other things. But I finally got to rereading the first book the other day and it held up just as much as I remembered it the first time and dove right into the sequel (and will be diving right in to the final book next). And legit- these books are just plain fun and compelling.

Just as the first book, the predictable happens only for the unpredictable (well, at least for me, someone who doesn't typically read these kinds of books) to soon follow after that will take you by surprise. There's a good mix of multi-faceted characters and characters that are just there to meet a certain trope. Hoping the next book fleshes out some of the other characters more and fills in the gaps for them. I'm continuing to love the characterization of the MC and without giving anything away, I just have to say that I think the way his thought process is written and his internal struggles make the character feel so real and believable and not 2-dimensional and flat.

Really enjoying the overall plot line of this series and am stoked to see how it all ends.

Also, Howard remains the best.

I liked this. It was better than the first, a little more nerve wracking for sure.
Spoiler I wish he had not killed Flannel, I was sad, traitor and brainwashed dude he was, I was sad that he was murdered that way. Also, if Ben/Daniel/Zach ever has attraction to ANY girl, he should just save himself the trouble and kill her as quickly as possible, because dear god in heaven does he fall for the batshit crazies!

Love Howard still
Spoiler hope he doesn't die! I'm not sure about Mother and Father at this point. Or Mike...I would like for Mike to be...decent, we'll see I guess.

This one was a little more emotional and you can see things kind of falling apart and there are still questions to be answered. Will read the next one.

In the sequel to I Am the Weapon, sixteen year old Boy Nobody's alias is Daniel and his target is larger than any other. Right away, I love that the stakes are so much higher! And in more ways than one! Daniel must jump into his next mission after taking some time for himself to think - time that was cut short by The Program which now has him thinking about his target, Moore and Moore's sly children, Lee and Miranda. Only, the last person who was on the mission didn't complete the mission. Which is precisely why Daniel was brought in. It's up to Daniel to complete the mission and/or figure out what's going on and what moves are best for him. I love that there are so many bad guys in the sequel and after what's happened to Daniel, his decision making process has been altered in a way because he let his heart open. It only takes one time.

After what he went through in I Am the Weapon, Daniel has doubts and now's the time to iron them out. It's always been about calculating every risk but now more's at stake because now he's slowly but surely on the path to thinking for himself. Questioning if certain expectations are worth living up to. There's lots of secrecy and not nearly as much communication with The Program as before. Have they been compromised? Has Daniel? Will Daniel compromise his friend, Howard now that Daniel's roped him in again? It was so awesome seeing the return of Howard and seeing Daniel have someone to go through much of this with. The book was thrilling from page one but it became a lot more fun and I felt more at ease with Howard in the picture. I love when a straight up action story can also put a smile on my face.

Plainly put, I Am the Mission is a solid sequel. The characters and the story are just as engaging as the first book. The sequel is consistent in its tone and pacing, easily making this a day read. If I had to choose, I'd say that I liked the story in I Am the Weapon more but really, both books deliver the goods, no sophomore slump here. So if you liked the first book, you'll like the sequel and you'll be itching for a third after this ending! Woo!

A great sequel to book #1, I Am the Weapon. High suspense and action with the obligatory love interest thrown in. Can't wait until book #3 is published!

I loved the first book in this series. This book, not so much. It is written the same way, with short, to-the-point sentences, and it has the same general vibe to it.
I felt I Am the Mission was written poorly. It seemed like the author was rushed to spit out another book in the series. Some of this may also be a result of bad editing. This book needed a final read-through before publishing. A couple sentences and ideas were (unintentionally) repeated, and an entire question and answer between two characters took place twice, in two different locations at different times. The same characters.
The main character was very sloppy in this book, and you would think that would make him more realistic, but it was kind of stupid how many simple mistakes he made. This was explained by lack of sleep, but still. The plot wasn't as interesting or deep as the one in the first book. I almost dnf. The one character I actually cared about was a return from the first novel.
I'm hopeful that the next book in this series will be better.
