DNFing this bitch at 31%

I'm looking around for things to clean instead of reading. That's a bad sign. I can't take anymore.

Get this:
There is something very sexy about a man like Mark Compton in control, but sexy or not, it's also quite uncomfortable for all kinds of reasons I've found better left under the rug. Comfortable is overrated, a voice in the back of my head screams.

I want to smack her.

Sara friend and neighbor gets into buying up storage buildings. She buys one that has some art work and journals of a woman that um are some kinky shit. Well said friend heads off to Paris to marry a dude she just met a couple of months ago and leaves everything in the building to Sara.
Sara decides she needs to hunt down Rebecca, the woman in the journals because she is worried about her. She goes to an art opening and is offered a job by the guy that owns the place. Mark Compton. Meanwhile she is making goo-goo eyes at an artist that has work exhibited there.
She takes the job thinking she is just doing it to find out what happened to Rebecca. Yeah right.

It looks to all appearances that something is funky with the missing girl? I would be freaking the hell out. Not taking her job.
I swear I think this bitch should have watched Single White Female a couple more times.
I'm not reading the rest of these craps books but I do hope Rebecca comes back and kicks her ass.

What happened to the best guys being funny? Making you smile? Being smart? Not this crazy bull shit excuse for men?

I did receive an ARC copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

3 stars. Not sure how I feel about this book to be completely honest. It gave me so much mood whiplash it's not even funny. I really do like Lisa's writing style but her books are just so hit or miss with me. This one was definitely a miss unfortunately.

I really liked the suspense part of the book, even though there really was so little of it. When it was about Rebecca and wanting to find her was great but that was quickly abandoned to turn into a typical adult romance. I didn't like Sara's character at all. She's the definition of a pushover and I don't like characters like that. She completely lost focus really early on to be swept off of her feet by Chris. I didn't care for Chris either. He has no personality outside of "bad boy painter with a tortured soul" but it did nothing for me. Mark was one character I did really want to see more of. Until the very end of the novel though he was just kind of there. Hopefully the next book has more about him because I was really intrigued by the little bit of character I got from him.

Not a bad read overall but damn do the characters need work. Here's to hoping that the next book gets back on track about finding Rebecca.

A cliffhanger! Ok, so now I'm kind of glad in hadn't heard of this book earlier. Only because now I have all 3 books at my disposal (unless it doesn't end at 3, shit!)
This book has everything!! Strong female lead, a sexy, artistic, alpha male lead, suspense, amazingly hot sex scenes and lots of wine!! Ahh. I could probably say so much more but I don't have time for that...I'm heading right into reading Being Me!!

So this book I read the little blurb about how she reads someone else's journal and I thought to myself... meh.

Let me just tell you how glad I am that I was fortunate enough to get an invite for a read along for this book! Going into the story I thought this was going to be just another book like FSOG and just another overdone topic. I can't tell you how wrong I was.

I absolutely loved all the characters that were brought into this book. Lisa Renee Jones does such a dynamic job of getting you right into the scene with the characters.

There were parts of the book that I wanted to shake Sara and there were parts that had me smiling and swooning over Chris. I'm so excited to read on and find out what happens next!

I listened to this on Audible and got SO much of my kitchen reorganized because I couldn’t stop listening!!! The one I listened to was narrated by Grace Grant and she was just a gem.

So this is the story of Sara who is a high school english teacher but majored in Art. Her passion is art. She’s on summer break when she becomes the owner of an abandoned storage unit. She stumbles across a STEAMY HOT journal that belongs to a girl named Rebecca. She begins reading these journal entries and decides that these extremely intimate details about her deepest darkest desires should be returned to her and only her. So she sets out to find Rebecca using the clues from her journal. She goes to her work and quickly learns that Rebecca is on vacation, or did she run off? No one seems to know, no one has heard from her. Sara catches the attention of Rebecca’s former boss and slips into her role at a prestigious art gallery. She catches the eye of a very talented, very handsome artist that turns her world upside down. Sarah is having to face her demons and dig deep inside her soul to search for her true self.

This book sucked me in. It kept me interested and on task while I listened. Fair warning though, It is definitely a spicy read! Rebecca’s journal is erotic and those have actually been published as mini novellas in addition to this book if you’re interested in reading more. The title is “Rebecca’s Lost Journals”

I gave this 4 stars because literally ZERO questions were answered. Not only did it end in the middle of a scene with no sense of closure, but I have so many questions! Zero answers! So off to book two I go! Being Me - by Lisa Renee Jones. I’ll also be listening to this novel. Review to come.

I don't think every book that has BDSM and a damaged male protagonist should automatically invoke FSoG comparisons. I really didn't see much similarities but I know a lot of people did.

I can't say I enjoyed this one as much as I enjoyed FSoG. It didn't engaged me in the same manner but I liked the Chris & Sara better than Anna & Christian. I just didn't love their story together as much, though it was better written. Sara seemed much more in control of her sexuality and desires. I also enjoyed her passion for her work. Chris was definitely a good match for her, he just had major issues.

I think i will read book 2, but not today just because the author tried to trick me into it. Anytime you end a book like that, such a blatant ploy to get draw the reader into the sequel, I gotta push back and say No ma'am, I am the boss here and i will read it when I darn well choose to read it
