Did I follow and understand all aspects of this book? No. Is RBG my new hero? YES.

There is definitely a lot of value in this book collecting RBG's writings from all points in her life as a record of who she is. Reading it was enjoyable, but I would also highly recommend the audiobook, as certain speeches are recordings of RBG herself, which was really interesting to listen to, and I feel like as a Supreme Court justice, though there were many times when she did have to make speeches, they were never speeches that were highly televised or made it into many people's everyday lives, even though many of the decisions really affect all of us. So it was nice to hear her own words in her own voice.

Oh that I would have known more of her while she was doing it... Why wasn't she regularly in the news? Anyway, my hero.

She is definitely an interesting and important person, but this book is vastly uninteresting. It covers the same five court cases repeatedly, which makes it feel incredibly repetitive. It offers very little insight into her as a person, and the insight we do get is lame platitudes about bipartisanship and how the supreme court is a "noble endeavor". It isn't. The supreme court has always been partisan nonsense and hearing her defend it makes her come across as either deeply naïve or a liar. All together very disappointing.

I listened to the audiobook, and was disappointed in the quality of some of the recordings they included. I enjoyed learning about RBG and her court decisions, but sometimes it did get a wee bit dry

I enjoyed the archived recordings in this audiobook. It was wonderful to hear a first person account of her legal experiences. That's the extent of the book. It doesn't look at much of her life but her legal determinations and rulings. It is fascinating and inspiration and a bit repetitive.
