Slow burn romance at its finest

I have been a fan of Eden Butler’s romance for well over a year now, but this was my first experience of her co-author Chelle Bliss (though I’d heard nothing but positive things about her and her books) and this collaboration is a definite winner for me. I was excited when the first book was announced, but knowing it’s part of a three book series has me very happy indeed.

Nailed Down introduces us to Kane Kaino and his brother Kiel and I have to say, this family clearly has some alpha male, sexy hot genes running through it because wow

Loved

Nailed Down was so good! I kind of wish it was longer so I wasn’t done with it yet. Loved Kane. So looking forward to Kiel.

This was a good book! Those Kaino men...woah. This was a great story that had me flipping pages. very well written and executed. This book is a lot of give and take between the two main characters and you can help but cheer them on. Told in dual pov.

I was super excited to pick up Nailed Down because I love the sound of it! A friends-to-lovers story involving a sexy bucket list? I was like, sign me up! Also, I have never read anything by Chelle Bliss nor Eden Butler so I was hoping I'd also get new authors to love.

Basically, I had pretty high expectations going in. They weren't entirely met, but I did enjoy Nailed Down and I am looking forward to reading more of Chelle Bliss and Eden Butler's other books whether solo or co-written.

Kit Carlyle and Kane Kaino have known and worked with each other for five years on a home renovation show on TV where Kit is the host and Kane is the head hottest handyman in the crew. After Kit's cousin/best friend/the only family she had left passed away, Jess leaves her with a 10-item bucket list that included things like going zip lining, whale watching, and singing in front of a crowd--things that Kit had always been afraid to do--as well as more sexy ones like getting a toe-curling/moan-worthy kiss and "have sex with someone other than yourself." With a list like that, Kit knew that she needed help and the only man who could help her was Kane.

Kit and Kane had always been mutually attracted to each other, but have never clued the other of their attraction. But, with Kane agreeing to help Kit with her list and finding himself falling deeper for her, he may have to risk their friendship for something more.

Kit and Kane were a fun couple and I liked watching their friendship grow into something more. I am a huge fan of the friends-to-lovers trope, and Nailed Down delivered in that aspect. Kit and Kane had great chemistry and with a half-naked man on the cover you'd think these two would be jumping into bed right from the get go, but it actually took a bit to get there. But, when they got there it was hot!

I guess my biggest issue with Nailed Down was the fact that Kane was so blatantly based on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. It's no secret--the authors dedicated the book to The Rock for inspiring the hero. This wouldn't be a problem if I am a fan of The Rock, but I'm decidedly not--he's just not my cup of tea. It was very hard to separate Kane and give him the usual "blurry face" that all characters have when I read books (no matter how descriptive the author is when describing any character) when Kane is very obviously The Rock. I know this issue might not be a problem for others and fans of Dwayne Johnson even welcome it, so this is completely personal.

I liked that the first person POVs switched between Kane and Kit. I liked knowing what the other was thinking and their reactions to what was going on. I did like Kit's chapters a bit more probably because of my Dwayne Johnson issue, but I thought her chapters read a bit more cohesively than Kane's. However, overall, Nailed Down was a fun, entertaining friends-to-lovers read.

I really loved Nailed Down. As it was such an entertaining, well paced slow burn friends to lovers story. That really caught my attention from the start and then held it throughout.

As the storyline was fun, sweet, and sexy. Plus, the two main characters Kit and Kane were very likable, and had a nice warmth to them. And I liked how they transitioned from best friends to lovers.

And I'd happily recommend Nailed Down to others, and can't wait to read more from the series in the future.

Holy Shit......Chelle and Eden nailed it so hard with this book!!! Kane was a hot as hell, sexy as fuck alpha male and together with his gorgeous, independent strong-willed bestfriend their chemistry was intense to the point of explosive. Their story will entertain you, seduce you and sweep you off your feet with the laughs, sexiness and love between these amazing characters. This is one amazing story by two phenomenal authors that I highly recommend as a MUST read!

Big thank you to Chelle and Eden, along with their team, for providing me with an ARC to read to give my unbiased review.

I’ll be honest here so we’re on the same page. I recently, by recent I mean end of last year, read Takeover which is a sneak peak novella-ish introduction to Acquisition by Chelle. I didn’t give it a glowing review because I honestly wasn’t impressed.

I am so happy I was given the opportunity to give Chelle another chance and I am also proud of myself for not passing on this opportunity based on a previous let down. I cannot begin to explain to y’all how impressed I am with Nailed Down. Hands down, one of the best romance reads out there. Everyone needs to give this one a whirl. Chelle and Eden have such a way with words. It’s legitimately magical.

This is a story of friends to lovers with such an angsty, frustratingly sexy path. Nailed Down is seductive torture. It was so hard to put down, I didn’t want to stop reading! I even read it while in the waiting room at the doctors office because I couldn’t put it down. #NoShame

Nailed Down is a contemporary romance meaning it’s here and now, this day and age. I am a huge fan of HGTV, my fiance makes fun of me for it, so I loved that the main characters were the two leads on a renovation show. I really, really enjoyed that Kane was a handyman, not your average billionaire, CEO, you know the type.

I would say the bucket list left for Kit is half sexy, half normal. The whole thing isn’t drop your panties crazy, but parts are. Can we also talk about how primal Kane is though? When they say friends to lovers they mean it. Kane is so protective of Kit, I don’t understand why it took them so long to see what was right in front of them.

I am so glad these ladies decided to turn this into a series of three books. I can’t wait to keep reading. They have me hooked!

NAILED DOWN is book one of a new series by Chelle Bliss and Eden Butler. I've read several books by Chelle Bliss but this a first for me from Eden Butler! They collaborated really well together...there's only a few times where I could guess that it was maybe Ms. Bliss writing (she does love those alphas!).

Kane is the star of a home improvement show. His co-host and best friend is Kit. She just lost her cousin but her dying wish was for Kit to complete a bucket list that includes some things that involve a "partner".

The friends to lovers trope is a fave of mine! I always enjoy watching that transformation from friends to more and the realization that being friends first makes a pretty solid foundation for a relationship. Kit was...well I'm going to say it...she was kinda ALPHA! Sounds weird I know but she ended up being the decisive one, Kit knew what she wanted and what she wanted was Kane. And although there's times that Kane is pretty alpha himself (which is HAWT by the way) he spends a lot of time debating between keeping Kit as a friend or taking that chance at being more (is that considered a spoiler??). Their story is a slow burn but when Kane and Kit finally take the plunge...WOWZA!

This doesn't have a lot of over the top drama though there's parts that are a bit sad. But mostly, this is a fun, light read. Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
